Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?
10·3 年前I wish my wife didn’t have some gnarly arachnophobia. The “spiders are beneficial” argument doesn’t work :(

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Anyone else feel like ~99% of their life was kind of wasted?English
1·3 年前I feel you, I’ve been feeling similar lately too, I think it’s something a lot of people go through so just know you aren’t alone. I guess what I’m trying to say in my previous comment is that a common stigma is this:
It’s not really about being happy or sad
I get that you might not feel that way, but it kind of seems like you have some stuff weighing you down somewhere in there. Even if it isn’t obvious I just think having a therapist to talk to would really help. IMO it’s good even if someone doesn’t think anything is wrong and is perfectly happy. It’d be good just to maintain that!

7·3 年前I’m fixing it by going to therapy and am learning avenues to move forward happy. I would recommend you do the same even if you don’t think you have something mentally wrong, your happiness is important and thoughts like these can spiral out of control without you realizing it.

3·3 年前Yea my next promo is senior and honestly I’m probably just going to take that for the title and then fuck off. Based on my team’s current seniors it’s exactly how you describe it. Basically just manager light.

51·3 年前I very much want the ability to create more custom streams
fwiw I believe there is a proposal for this right now on github.
personally I’ll probably miss flair, and easily knowing my “karma” count (maybe I’m missing that?). me like big numbers.

181·3 年前Yeah honestly I’m not surprised, they can probably use their piles of cash to wipe away their tears. I work for a very large company as an SDE and when asked about how I feel about the manager track, I am met with awkward silence when I say I absolutely do not want that path. My manager probably doesn’t make a ton more than me, but they work at least 2x the hours with way more stress. Not worth it. These people chose these lives.

1·3 年前ya no kidding, I like to think I’m generally pretty tolerant of the fireworks, but I just moved and the neighborhoods around me apparently really felt the need to “protest” the firework ban. At least three fires reported, awesome protest!
If I based my concerns off of what I worked on, I’d actually probably be cool with it. Things are generally taken very seriously and the general discourse around how things are handled (at least to my knowledge) are wildly exaggerated. However, knowing just how things work end to end and how Meta tends to handle things, I think accepting something like the terms they lay out will give them freedom to do whatever they want with whatever they want.
That might seem obvious to most folks but I guess it’s more just be saying yeah they’ll take as much as you can give them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are the bad patterns of Reddit to never repeat on Lemmy?
81·3 年前I might be in the minority here (also maybe I don’t want “DAE” questions coming either…), but it’d be nice if the political discussions stayed in their respective communities. It’s important, but it was getting to the point where EVERY thread would deviate into childlike insults at the political level.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you find that you're on the fed more than you were on r/ just because you're really really excited to watch your favorite communities become more active?
6·3 年前I’m excited to be here since it feels like the old reddit community, which I missed over time. I’m just kind of tired of what reddit become as a platform and as a community. It was so nice early on, but as it gained popularity just became more toxic in various ways.

4·3 年前kind of hope the political discussions stay in their respective communities. I agreed with most or really almost all of reddit’s hivemind, but was so tired of seeing some comparison to politics in every single subreddit, even some of my more niche ones.
absolutely wild, was going to (naively) give it a go, but I work on telemetry for a big platform and cannot in good faith use this product.

181·3 年前was fucking hot in western WA yesterday, my first year gardening and have had some plants bolt :(
edit: I shouldn’t have used the term bolt cause even I didn’t know what that meant before this season, it just means that a lot of my plants flowered due to stress from the heat, which often makes things like kale bitter, or spinach tough. In my case it was bok choy, and just now cilantro, but that was probably more from me planting late.
I agree with what you’re saying except I think the Barbie movie has provided a unique and well thought out message that manny have failed to convey and finally feel they’re being heard.
