I do. I never stopped.
I do. I never stopped.
My conspiracy theory is that Trump will be a useful idiot until he’s not, in which case he will be replaced one way or another by JD Vance.
Well, traditionally…
Part of me wants average people to realize the Republican leadership isn’t on their side. The other part of me realizes once normal people take notice, it will be too late.
They are super common where weed is legal. People fly into somewhere like Denver for the weekend to catch a show. Rather than buying a reusable battery, they will get a disposable vape (and probably some gummies).
Then it ends up in the landfill or as litter. I am in favor of making these one time use electronics illegal (along with single use plastics like balloons, plastic silverware, etc… but that is another thread)
It’s infuriating are schools aren’t doing a better job.
Buckle up, this ride is just starting.
I feel like the US flag should also be on top.
In what way would “we’re cutting property tax in half!” not work? No one enjoys paying these taxes. But if the state can’t slash the rate in half and pay for it, how will just throwing it out the window with no concrete plan do any better?
I agree property taxes are problematic for fixed income people and low income people. I just think they need to show how they can pay for essential services and cut taxes at the same time, without just gesturing to money they may tap into.
I don’t understand why it has to be all or nothing? It seems like they could reduce property taxes, see if the other funding sources can cover the difference, and measure how it impacts programs that were traditionally funded by these taxes. If they can prove it covers the difference with no impact, then think about reducing the tax rate further…
If they approach the change incrementally it would benefit everyone. If they instantly reduce the tax rate to 0% it most benefits the rich folks with expensive property.
Yeah a dozen or so commits updating readme files isn’t exactly compelling stuff. Any of us could do this in five minutes on GitHub.
I think the really rich people want trump to win. Unfortunately because of that he probably will. I really hope not, but the oligarchy gets its way.
I’ve been writing code professionally for nearly two decades, and I love having copilot available in my IDE. When there is some boilerplate or a SQL query I just don’t want to write, it’ll oftentimes get me started with something reasonable that is wrong in a couple of subtle ways. I then fix it, laugh at how wrong it was, or use part of the proposed answer in my project.
If you’re a non-corder, sure it is pure danger, but if you know what you’re doing it can give you a little boost. Only time will tell if it makes me rusty on some basics, but it is another tool in the toolbox now.
In a roundabout, totally legal way, yes they are. Technically it is a US organization that wants to strengthen US ties with Israel, so it’s totally not foreign influence /s
AIPAC and Citizens United are actually frightening.

They are able to change the outcome of races with seemingly unlimited money. A spend of 8.4 million in a Missouri primary is absurd, and likely is a drop in the bucket of what is spent influencing the presidential race.
I don’t think there is a way to fix this either, since the people that should be writing laws to prevent it are the ones benefiting the most.
I imagine this is also happening in Republican primaries, so one can’t just vote differently to address the root cause. Both republicans and Democrats seem to be tripping over each other to prove what a friend they are to Israel. It’s really weird and stressful to be a US citizen right now.
The other option is for all the mods to quit. AI can probably do a lot of basic tasks, but without mods they wouldn’t have a site pretty quickly.
I’m so tired. I can’t handle another four years of journalism covering the most recent crazy thing he did or proposed every hour. Just a firehose of sneaky, selfish plans and actions.
