Genuinely asking because I have always manually set my default on a new device.
mars296@kbin.socialto politics @lemmy.world•"I Don't Know If Most People Even Know What Party Is In The Senate Majority"4·2 years agoThe US Congress is legislative branch. Congress is divided into the Senate and House of Representatives.
What makes it confusing is that representatives are also referred to as “congressman” but senators are onky called senators. Despite both being members of Congress.

mars296@kbin.socialto World News@lemmy.world•India confirms citizens have joined Russian military601·2 years agoYour average Indian citizen is probably not as tuned in to the conflict as people in Western nations. Poor men in rural areas are pitched high wages (to them) for some easy work like building barracks away from the frontline. The same thing was happening in Cuba. Then once they arrived in Ukraine they were put in combat roles.

Putin accepts tea and the servant returns to the kitchen to prepare the tea. The servant is immediately thrown out the kitchen window.

Whats not standard is the diameter of the wheels, which for luggage, i would keep them the same size or a similar small size. To keep it from being too top heavy and to make sure it fits in the overhead compartments of a plane. Double check your casters to make sure they have standard stems/the same ones as the ones you want to purchase.

mars296@kbin.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How Can I Remove the Gunk from These Luggage Wheels?23·2 years agoI would try soap and water and a brush. The rubber itself looks to be in rough shape so if you care enough to clean them, I would just replace them. You can even upgrade the wheels while you’re at it.

mars296@kbin.socialto politics @lemmy.world•The Supreme Court May Be Poised to Kill the Voting Rights Act Once and for All15·2 years agoThey didn’t actually lie under oath. They say that the ruling is precedent and settled law. They do not say that they would not overturn precedent.
And they will always argue that you do not want a justice that is not willing to overturn pass precedents. If not for overturning past precedents, segregation, etc. would still be legal.
I think its expected for a conservative to make bad-faith arguments. In principle I agree that since justices are not supposed to be partisan politicians should not be asking how the justice would rule on a future case. But it is bullshit that the nominee doesn’t have to give real answers to their thoughts on past cases.
mars296@kbin.socialto World News@lemmy.world•Still alive! Golden mole not seen for 80 years and presumed extinct is found again in South Africa5·2 years agoThe documentary you watched was probably on a different species. From the article:
“With the help of a sniffer dog, the team found traces of tunnels and discovered a golden mole in 2021. But because there are 21 species of golden moles and some look very similar, the team needed more to be certain that it was a De Winton’s.”

They have 6 or maybe even 9 “self checkouts” and each is manned by an employee who scans everything without removing anything from the cart. Its basically a compact checkout. Recently was in another area and the Costco had true self checkouts with weight sensors messing up and requiring employee overide and all. It was a pain in the ass.
So only Alabama actually observes it. It’s the only one that closes state offices. Mississippi combines it with Memorial Day so technically there is a day off and they are diluting Memorial Day. I’m a Floridian and have never heard of his birthday being observed or mentioned. In contrast I actually get Juneteenth off.
