In this situation, there are multiple bad guys with complex motivations. The more accurately and harshly one describes the CCPs crimes against humanity, the less comprehensible and sympathetic the parents become.

When someone becomes a parent, their child is supposed to be their first priority. Instead, these parents chose to put their child in danger over nothing but a collection of legends. They did this for six years, despite knowing about the unjust, ruthless authoritarianism of the CCP. I’m not trying to downplay the cruelty of the CCP. I’m just angry, and mostly concerned with the child. Will this be on his record forever? Will he ever be allowed to live a normal life in China?

I often wonder if environmental degradation could be the end of the line for humans, and if it might even be Great Filter material. Have other civilizations discovered the usefulness of fossil fuels, only to be ignorant, then apathetic, about their major downsides?

I like that it’s basing its behaviors on the laws of physics. No messy human language, no opinions, slants, or agendas. AI just isn’t ready (or, possibly, will never be ready) to handle that shit. Plus, it’s not stealing work created by humans under the guise of “training”.

I assume it still relies on datacenters, which are themselves ethically questionable. Still, this seems to be the “flavor” of AI that I hate the least.

Everyone considering visiting the US should ask themselves some serious questions: is my visit so important that it’s worth the risk of being jailed for years? What if I unknowingly break an insignificant law and catch ICEs attention? Do my skin color/religious beliefs put me at greater risk of abuse? What are the possible repercussions for the people I’m visiting, and my loved ones back home?

They can talk about numbers being “down”, but frankly, 1.2 million is WAY too fucking many.
