  • Not sure if this works anymore, but worth a try. Get on the phone with the 1-800 during business hours and escalate, ask for consumer relations. Make sure you tell each person that you talk to that you’ll never be shopping at best buy again if this isn’t resolved, so they know you’re serious and will properly escalate you. 15 years ago, that would solve any problem. People who absolutely scammed Best Buy would still get replacements plus a gift card for their trouble, at least once.

Sorry this happened to you. Don’t just assume the chargeback is going to solve things without any more effort, the machines involved might fuck you over if you don’t take steps. Credit card might side with vendor if you don’t submit evidence better than theirs. Your case seems cut and dry since it wasn’t even the right address, but you might still need to get that police report filled. Like the other poster said, you’re just getting the case#, as frustrating as it is, expecting anything else would just be silly. All of these things show you are serious and not a scammer. Scammers wouldn’t try this shit because it would put them in jail the second or third time they did it without any evidence. You have evidence, but the machine is tuned to ignore it until escalation. Fucking lame, I know.

I’m with you, last time an update was this rough for me was like 6+ years ago. That last rough experience had me avoiding major updates until at least 6 months after launch, the only reason I updated was some shitty policy change my corporate IT implemented that wouldn’t stop popping up about it.

If you haven’t already, force a full rebuild of your spotlight index, https://support.apple.com/en-us/102321 . The only other advice aside from rollback or reinstall is to create a new user profile.

  • A bunch of (5 states) ranked choice voting ballot measures were just rejected directly by citizens, and another went so far as to ban it, and many red states have already done that. Team money won by convincing the public to vote against their own interests. Sorry to bear bad news, maybe there’s something else to be hopeful about still but I’m not seeing it. The only good news I’ve heard in American politics since the election was within the last few weeks, and it gets you banned on most of the Internet for saying so.

That’s a nice analogy. If the world was sane and just, those in power would quickly get their shit in order now that they’ve been reminded what the 2nd amendment was actually meant for. Doesn’t matter if it’s king, president, or CEO, people in power over Americans are meant to respect the threat of violence.

Hate the right and the NRA skewing it for stupid individual self defense reasons just as much as the Democrats trying to claim it has something to do with militias.

  • Don’t discount the amount of common people that are totally onboard with killing everyone in another tribe. There have been plenty of times when leaders are the only reason diplomacy happens in the face of a bloodthirsty population, though certainly more common that war happens because leaders channel the energy of that bloodthirst as it is easier and the benefits (to themselves first, their tribe second) are thought to outweigh the risks. Look through history and you’ll see enough instances of leaders trying to keep the peace only to be killed by their bloodthirsty population and replaced by someone who will act.

I wish we could all just get along, but so far the only effective deterrent in all of history has been the threat of destruction, either by a sufficiently powerful peace mongering leader, or MAD that nuclear weapons established. I suspect the next change in this dynamic, if MAD holds true, is some real AI that takes the reigns. It would be hard to rule break if we had an omniscient leader that could kill you within seconds.

  • Anecdote, his people didn’t even watch the debate. If they did watch it, they watched some edited version the next day that only had his answers, basically an edited speech. Then they watched some talking go over all the worst bits of what Harris said and did. Then they read about how the moderators were unfair to Trump, and how Harris must have been given the questions ahead of time. I know multiple people that did exactly this, it’s all quite insufferable. Based on the way they talk, it wouldn’t surprise me if some people watched it live and just muted the TV when Harris was talking, because they can’t stand hearing her.
