No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is with these videos where it's just someone reaction to shit someone else is doing?
141·2 months agoOk. I’ll throw myself on my sword and give a different take than what most people are.
I wasnt into reaction videos aka analysis vidoes at all until Kpop Demon Hunters came out. I really like this movie. I’ve even watched it several times, including once at the theater, which is very unusual for me.
I have a fairly isolated life. Not many friends and the few I do have I only see occasionally. So I don’t have anyone I can gush about this movie to let alone rewatch it with or introduce it to.
Putting on a reaction video while walking the dogs lets me listen to someone else enjoying discovering the movie for the first time. Obviously I can’t participate, but I’ve still shared their joy.
An alternate one is singers analyzing music videos. I watched someone going nut over a Beatbox video of Beatpella House, then saw their reaction video of VoicePlay covering Nothing Else Matters. Mindblowing rendition! I would never have found this without scrolling through their other videos. Sometimes being open to new things pays off.

3·4 months agoCompanies dont really need to know where you are. They just need to know where you aren’t. If you are not within a certain threshold of response time to certain cdn servers, then its reasonable to assume that you are outside their contractually obligated broadcast region.

Slightly off topic but DAE find it convenient that Jesus’ first lecture to his new disciples was about divorce? Like hey, guys. Forget fishing and making money and handling business, and dont worry about your wives anymore.

Starch. This limits what I can eat. Unfortunately I didn’t know this growing up, so I ate a pretty carb heavy diet which caused health issues which caused me to be grouchy a lot. Took until I nearly 40 to figure out that I wasn’t just an unstable asshole.
If you use Windows, I highly recommend trying Mobaxterm.

I realize MS would still be tracking, but it’d be all work stuff, so I’m less concerned about it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people see me as far older than 19 when I type the way I do sometimes?/Why do people think full stops are rude?
21·1 year agoIt made everything clear back when everything was hand written or done on a type writer. This mattered as paper wasn’t infinite.
Much of modern communication is done in bubbles on screens, so the punctuation doesnt matter as much as it used to.
That said, run-on sentences and word salad are quite common which makes for some entertaining yet stroke inducing screenshots.
The so-called “rules” of language arent actually rules. They are observations. Language use has greatly evolved over time, and schools teach the rules as they know them, forgetting that even a hundred years ago, it was different.

I rather suspect she is one of those types who shines in the chaos. I think her stress comes more from co-workers than the situation.
