Fair, that is how they’re planning to use it because they’re enthusiasts and have several phones around them but according to them it’s a full android OS and isn’t lacking anything just the him screen set to Niagara which you can also change. This is according to Q/As they have answered so all there is reports that are unconfirmed. I have a 2 year old Nothing Phone2 that still runs fine so planning to use that as my secondary phone to the Communicator. That all remains to be seen but I am fine risking it with the Communicator to see how it turns out.

I am interested in both and paid the $200 reservation for a clicks communicator a couple of months ago. The minimal phone will most likely have better specs and I like they state the bootloader is fully unlocked without question. To me the Communicator looks better designed for my use cases with the ergonomics, plastic and textured back and the bumper case they have designed for it are all what I would pick if they asked me what I would want for a modern blackberry style device. The Communicator has magsafe and a 3.5mm jack which I also really want. It runs full android and I already use Niagara launcher on my current device so it lines up almost perfectly with my use cases. The Communicator is further behind schedule it seems and they only have 1 video of a working device so it you’re worried about fulfilment the minimal phone is further along and have already shipped devices in the past.

I have 3 OLED devices, an LG TV, a steamdeck OLED and a tablet all for multiple years and no sign of burn in.

Verizon doesn’t support a lot of unlocked devices even sold from major manufacturers

They’ve said they’re partnering with Niagara devs to make sure it works seamlessly with the hardware for this phone so you get a full tailored experience with this device.

You can also just pick whatever launcher you want if you’re so inclined.

Not sure if this 100% fits but I used the stacking widgets on Nova for a long while. Switched to Niagara launcher 2 years ago and have 5 widgets set up ay the top of my homescreen that I can swipe through.

My LG C3 not connected to internet and using an HTPC and Nvidia shield is working great so far.

I’m gonna reserve a green one in 3 weeks before the price goes up, I want a smaller sleeker phone with a keyboard. I don’t use Instagram or YouTube or anything much on my current phone that’s going to stop receiving updates soon.

They have other hardware they’ve built and shipped for years, just a keyboard case not an entire phone but that seems to be positively received

I think I’m going to preorder the phone next month. Seems a great idea and main phone to use while my nothing phone2 slows down. I don’t watch many videos on mobile so this more distraction free device seems a great idea.
