some of LG’s older android phones have good builtin DAC and all the features you mention
ipods are also a good option if you can find one cheaply. the full sized models can be modded to take large storage and custom firmware

the difference is that LLMs spit out actual bs quite frequently while forums are usually simply outdated or smth

except that noobs can destroy their systems very easily by following LLM instructions…

try booting windows pe usb (you can make one from linux), this may be a hardware issue.
you can use xinput disable command to disable the trackpad inside x11

don’t ask to ask, just ask

how do you even get ideas like this

i tend to just say +1

many of the people who were a kid back when those ‘recent’ consoles released are adults now, so it makes sense they want one now that they can afford it i guess.

do you already have the bootloader unlocked? if so, a full backup could be trivial. if it’s not unlocked then the unlock procedure involves a factory reset so it wouldn’t be of much use tho…

just ran a quick search, the zenfone 8 seems like a very capable phone with SD888… is the issue really on the hardware side? with a custom rom i’d say this phone is good for more than 5 years. maybe even with the stock rom since android apps tend to support older versions.

i’ve tried it before, it’s very unstable and prone to connection issues. only kinda works for manual file copying and still very slow. was wondering if you had some setup that works well

map a local drive on your phone to the NAS
how do I do this on android? NFS never seemed to work for me on android.

would be nice to have an ‘instant sync to remote location’ shortcut, i kinda have this on android with termux and rsync but not sure for ios
a live streaming method would be good too, also a burner phone

third party batteries are generally ok, but would probably degrade faster than official asus ones.
it would be better for battery health if you keep it on 30~80% range and not drain it till 0%/charge till 100%

ik reddit is shit lately but you might wanna visit r/legacyjailbreak

RAM+NAND is really useless, like I can say my old laptop is 128.5GB RAM+NAND and it has 512MB ram with 128GB SSD

universal android debloater helps a lot. remove all google/oem/carrier bs
also, there are treble gsi roms that work (mostly) universally. if bootloader can be unlocked, it may be trivial to get custom roms like lineageos on an unpopular phone.

as long as you keep it safe i still think it’s better than not having one though. it’s much easier to manipulate memory when there’s nothing to compare/verify against. tho, the journal being leaked or modified is a big issue, maybe a git repo inside some encrypted drive would do…
seems like they’re down, hopefully temporarily
