Came because of the reddit API. Stayed, because I couldn’t stand reddit users anymore.

grill@thelemmy.clubto Technology@lemmy.world•A Linux user's nightmare: the machine was wiped clean with one clickEnglish6·1 year agoAs a KDE user and a very new Linux user, this is a little disappointing. I’m glad it didn’t happen to me.
That’s good news in my eyes.
grill@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What file formats, technologies, techniques do you think would benefit most people by being more common? Or that people would benefit by being more aware of?17·1 year agoGrapheneOS is still just for pixel phones right?
First time I tried switching to linux I went with mint and I had a lot of problems, everything I hated about windows seems to be even worse there. I switched back to windows for a year but last month I gave linux another shot with Manjaro. And I managed to fully switch to linux without any big problems so far. There is a lot to like about it, especially for a linux begginer like myself.
I am not really qualified to recommend it, but my experience as a noob has been great (gaming with linux native games and windows games, watching movies, customizing things, modding games…)

Personally, I feel the word influencer doesn’t apply to people I follow. Yet this may be because of me; I find it that ads really don’t work on me. And I don’t worship internet content creators like some people do.

Will Affect Us All: Screenwriters, actors, authors, and artists are fighting to ensure that human beings are not shunted to the margins of our culture.English145·2 years agoIf AI can replace your writing you’re not a very good writer. Specially our dumb little chatGPT. Maybe in a few years…maybe.
grill@thelemmy.clubto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do people just not use the YouTube subscription feed?823·2 years agoI think most people sadly don’t use subscription feed. They just blindly watch whatever youtube algorithm throws at them.
grill@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can we stop talking about that other site that had a migration here?English3·2 years agoI don’t mind those posts. But I am on the other hand slowly getting bothered by your kind of posts. They seem to be posted more often than any other reddit related news/shittalking.
Google play is fucked for many years now. Gone are the days of Gingerbreads, Ice Cream Sandwiches and Jelly Beans.

Even for an example when I am watching 3hour podcast and I misclick and close the browser. Next time I open the video I am on the same exact position as I was before. I never had this experience with vanilla youtube. It’s very unrealible. At least this was my experience every time.

grill@thelemmy.clubto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does the Lemmy / Kbin (Fediverse) have more helpful content than Reddit?English16·2 years agoFor troubleshooting, I still turn to reddit. This is just unfortunate reality of:
- Massive community
- Very old website
- Google search algorithm
But I am confident tides will shift to lemmy sooner or later. And if I am unable to find answer on reddit, I’m sure I’m gonna ask it here not on reddit.
grill@thelemmy.clubto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is there a fediverse equivalent of Letterboxd / icheckmovies / trakt.tv?English31·2 years agoJust use letterboxd, it’s great. And for tv shows you can use serializd.
That is true for Bitcoin and most crypto tokens, but not for some that specialize in privacy, like Monero or even Ergo with ErgoMixer.
