i dont disagree, but if you don’t mention stuff like threat model to n00bs they end up thinking they need to only communicate telepathically in order to not get spied on. every attack is possible, just not for every threat model, for example a very sophisticated js attack wouldnt be used on the wild, but more likely targetted on a specific individual because once it’s known it’s fixed and you can’t use it. it’s worthy so you use it on a worthy individual.

this is a very specialized attack, your threat model needs to be way higher than the average joe for someone to do such a precision strike on this, all keeping in mind that you lose your stick.

well, here on lemmy for example when it comes to moderation we try to not follow the western narrative/norm when it comes to certain topics. i ban people constantly for expressing views that express normalized support for us imperialism, whereas in reddit you’d get that force-fed into your cerebellum even if you dont want to, in every community, all the time. generally this isn’t so much an infrastructure issue, although it is, since us owned platforms push their view, they become mainstraim and the norm, and that way the Western Way is now the default. but rather how you engage as a community.

japanese formality system is not that hard, it’s a couple conjugations and it pretty much doesn’t change when it comes to gender, singular/plural, etc. it’s really exaggerated how difficult that is. spanish doesn’t have that many grammar rules for formality in that sense, but it adds another personal pronoun just for that.

also counters is also something shared among all languages pretty much. a school of fish? sure… it’s just whatever word/ideogram the language speakers decided it was what’s best to describe that group.

i’m not saying japanese is easy, just that some of those things are a bit not so much an issue as people make it seem to be. i am a native spanish speaker and i have practiced japanese for some time so i know a thing or two about that.
