I think most of Europe has places that can accommodate that, especially if you travel outside of big cities. I’d put more of my budget into a place to stay and slightly less into food, but that’s my personal preference, and I’ve found tons of meals out for a lot less than that. I don’t think we spent more than maybe 40 euros for a meal for two anywhere in Spain, including wine/beer, and many were more like 25. Even Berlin and Munich were pretty reasonable and we made up the difference by going to Aldi for some of our breakfast/dinner food.

What would you consider a low price level? My mom and I have been to a lot of places that aren’t traditionally known as cheap, but we usually stay in places with a kitchen (aparthotels, mainly, we avoid airbnb) and grocery shop so we spend far less on food than a lot of people would. We also travel outside of peak season, primarily to avoid the crowds but it’s also less expensive.

I’ve used it in to turn into my driveway when there are other cars around because some of my neighbors and most of the delivery drivers drive like total dicks and can’t seem to figure out why someone would slow down in a neighborhood.

I’m pretty sure all the people who deal with imports have to be on the verge of a mental breakdown. What a nightmare. Policy made by a petty, stupid tyrant based on apparently nothing but vibes and changing as often as he shits his diaper is no way to run a country, but here we are.

I should’ve said I have zero faith in the wealthy to actually do anything useful. I just figure if things get too bad and their investments start losing significant value, some of them might speak up out of pure self-interest. Snapping up properties dirt cheap is only worthwhile if someone can afford to live there.

The only real hope seems like enough wealthy people realizing that they need the poors to spend money to keep their investments valuable and nobody is going to do that if they can’t afford anything. Everyone knows Republicans won’t be convinced by the suffering of their constituents, but they’re usual open to bribes.

You know, I’ve developed a twitch in my left eye the last week or so, and I feel like every day, I see more reasons why that might be.

I struggle with being social because I’m usually so worn out by work, but my friends are honestly the best - they know I have a couple of hours in me, and they don’t mind at all if I kind of wander off to read or lay down for 20 minutes to recharge. Sometimes they want to do the same thing, sometimes they keep doing whatever we’re doing until I get back.

Literally the only defining characteristic is how much energy you have after socializing. The rest of this is total bs. I love being social if I’m in the mood, but I’m still an introvert because it wears me out.

No, they used to be more or less good - they all had slightly different vibes instead of being the exact same thing with different fonts. Okcupid used to publish a lot of fun data and was kind of a middle ground, Match was known for being for more “serious” daters, and plenty of fish tended to be a little trashier - not that there wasn’t plenty of overlap, that was just kind of the reputations they had. You could pay for things but you could also do just fine with free accounts, and the ads focused on how many people had had success with them.

Now they’re all owned by the same company and it shows, and they’ve decided dumbing the experience down to the most superficial stuff and letting bots and people advertising OF or their MLMs take over is fine. I don’t think any of them are worth the time they take to download at this point.

I feel like the next headline is going to be, “AI-Assisted Rifle Robot Shoots Hobbyist by Mistake.”

That’s the best part - they’re all bad! I’m lucky I usually stick to government and most use governmentjobs.com, which isn’t perfect but it’s miles better. But when I’ve been looking for a second job or trying to see what’s available in the private sector, I have yet to find a site that isn’t trash.

Indeed has been trash for years, so that tracks. That’s why I’ve only ever used it to figure out who (maybe) has jobs open and then apply directly - they have so much bad information.

Is this a 3rd party site? Every barista job on Starbucks’ actual site says no experience or education required, so I’m pretty sure what’s more infuriating is how god awful pretty much every job site has become.

Right? “I’ve been banned from enough communities on different topics that I can’t keep track! Could it be that I’m an asshat? No, it’s definitely the mods…”

What state do you live in? I used to take unemployment claims and there was no requirement to file the initial claim by a specific date (though I’m sure there would eventually be a cutoff). The hard deadlines were once the claim was filled because claimants have to go in weekly and certify that they’re still unemployed and actively looking for work. It’s possible you can still apply, and layoffs tend to be processed faster. I’d strongly recommend trying. The worst they can say is no.

Also, I realize your situation really sucks, and I don’t want to downplay that at all, but I wouldn’t be surprised if at least some of your expectation that you’ll be rejected is coming through in interviews. Interviews are at least part about how good your acting skills are, which is ass, but also reality. I have often crippling depression and anxiety, but I’m great at faking positive and confident, and I’ve been offered most of the jobs I’ve interviewed for in my life. Not because I’m always the most educated or experienced candidate, but because I seem like I’ll be tolerable to work with.

Oh and lie if you’re overqualified - say you’re looking to take a step back because you want to go back to school or something. Stupid but people respond better to that than the idea that we want to pay our bills and a job is a job.

The only thing I disagree with is that he finds being president stressful. He’s both incredibly stupid and lazy, so I don’t think he really even gives a shit about what his staff is doing as long as they keep jerking off his ego and don’t interrupt his golf and McDonald’s time. He’s likely not even aware of most of it, except whatever gets fed to him to post on social media.
