Microservices are just a collection of monoliths connected through even more code.

And failing super hard…
I love vibe coding. It separates stupid programmers like me from stupid vibe coding programmers.
I am not a good programmer, but that is purely on my own merits. I can also put effort into improving myself.
Barista and waitresses at this cafe I am a regular at. Even a couple of chefs there. I have come to respect them and they like me, despite my many, many faults.

Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Child labour with 10 years of experience, 'AI-native' accepting 250k lines of Cursor code
4·5 months agoI can assure you LLMs are, in general, not great at extracting concepts and work upon it, like a human mind is. LLMs are statistical parrots, that have learned to associate queries with certain output patterns like code chunks, or text chunks, etc. They are not really intelligent, certainly not like a human is. They cannot follow instructions like a human does, because of this. Problem is, they seem just intelligent enough that they can fool someone wanting to believe them to be intelligent even though there is no intelligence, by any measure, behind their replies.

51·5 months agoDie. I have no hope left in pretty much anything. But I am also hoping to be surprised, I guess.

91·5 months agoTypical CEO thinking number of lines of code is the same as productivity. What was the functionality of those 250k lines? Do arithmetic ops between two ints? Compute if an int is even?
Currently, I am mostly using C++. That is because C++ is the standard language for scientific computing, which is the area I love working on.
Philosophizing. Programming and finally accomplish that very difficult task. Reading an unexpected revelation or an incredible quote in a book.
When I figured this stuff out, on my own, it was the greatest feeling in the world.

9·5 months agoDating is non-existent for me as I have BPD, which makes socializing really hard, in general.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If we had to torture and murder millions of innocent children to stop global warming would that be okay?
232·5 months agoOP, whatever you are on, don’t use it ever again. There is no reason to think that torturing and killing kids will solve global warming. In short, it is a useless hypothetical that adds nothing to the discussion about solving the problem. Meaning it useless, while you get to pretend that you are somehow smart. Newsflash: you are not.
Narrator: Programmers were never not needed.
