  • Are you sure?

Or is it more about dispelling it?

Even just the preceding omitted portion of the line that you replied to on the same line as (~ lol. oh boy), showed:

This is no concern to those who can steer minds of masses.

This is vastly distinct from how when I was “Just Doing My Job”[TM], and the intent would be to have you completely oblivious to ploys afoot, and to have you believe without question, just presume as normal, all the associations we’d be implanting without your awareness, to shift your perceptions, your preferences, your prejudices, and of course, ultimately, your purchases.

It’s the difference between Penn&Teller showing you not only there is a trick, but how it’s being done to you [or at least, so goes the pedagogical aspiration], and a conman not even pretending to be a magician, just tricking you out of your wealth, and having you be so tricked, you’re even thankful for it. A really effective conman, an advertiser, who was really “good” at their job, may even manage to have you attack anyone who tries to get you out of the con, because they got you so identified with it, any critique, any questioning, gets seen as an existential threat.

The ignorance that dies, is not you.

^Is a great line to help remember, and to return to curiosity any time slipping to a place where different perspectives seem threatening and in need of being attacked again.

It’s an ongoing “eternal vigilance” kind of thing, here in a sea of misinformation, where everybody’s a shill.

So, yeah. I’m ex-advertiser, in so far as I’ve utterly relinquished any aspect of a career in it, since that first (and last) TV advert, that while I was making, I watched a Bill Hicks VHS over and over (the one with that “anybody here work in advertising or marketing” bit I linked above), wearing it out to snow, getting maybe a dozen doses a day of that bit. But not at all deluded to think that’s it. It’s a constant presence… that miasma that we’re all swimming in, that normalises the hard sell, the con, the grift, … the convincing. Now, I mmmmmuch much much more prefer the idea we all get epistemologically astute, wise to the con. It’s easier to con, than to de-con. But ever worth striving for a world where people are honest, can spot tricks and psychological maladies, and can even then offer remedies… and then we can expedite mending this world, far easier, without the total abandon to corruption as is and have been for too long.

  • the argument against direct action for fear of justifying the actions already being done against us

… ? Implying I’ve made such an argument, in your interpretation of what I wrote?

Whooh. That’s so far a mess in fallacies so far removed from what I wrote, that will be a brandolini’s burden and a half to tidy up. Where did you pick up that idea from? It’s so contrary to what I was saying, this implicit accusation seems like some kind of abuse of cunningham’s law, in its nonsequitur, its strawman.

If that’s not the intended implication, then, I agree. (And just wonder why it was raised there like that.)

But okay, lets go back to…

first off all floride is for the public good

Fluoride, has many studies done on it and its effects. I’m wondering, to make such a simple one-sided blanket statement, are you rejecting the evidence of effects to the contrary? Or are you using “public good” in a way that betrays each individual for “the greater good” where it’s good that people are chemically lobotomised to be easier to be controlled by a centralised government? Or maybe you have seen some study that is so compelling it undermines the claims of effects observed elsewhere? And what of the various historical documents showing plans and intents to use fluoride as I’ve described its effects? … Who’s defining this “public good”, that contravenes what doctors, other healers (e.g. nurses) and communities were noticing? Weston A Price springs to mind for one. A book or two on that, past the name-calling that gatekeepers do to try to keep you away from such “quacks”, can be quite an eye opener. Among the many surprising things, are how there’s not evidence for a dental benefit, evidence of a dental harm, and how the industry just wrangled itself another market to keep itself alive. Mercury’s story’s similar. Along with a lot of big pharma. Interestingly the regulatory body for the pharmaceutical industry in USA is a chemistry regulatory body that was a front set up by the chemistry industry. When you become aware of things like that, it’s hard to let statements slip by without a thousand questions springing to mind. Because what if that’s not said as a satire mocking the absurdity… … I guess it gets worse depending on the interpretation beyond the poor punctuation (~ and spelling ~ not important)… “First off all, fluoride is for the public good”, or, “First off, all fluoride is for the public good”?

the fact the republicans have been talking about removing it should be more then enough to show it’s not out there for graft

idgaf what those crooks are up to, as far as pertains to my own epistemology; my own ability to figure out what’s going on. With puppets of either side, they can terrorise people in groupthink, terrified of not being sufficiently in their in-group, desperate not to be “the other”, and so they accept the package deal of the entire groupthink, and run from anything [even suggested to be] of the other groupthink. And so the psyop keeps everybody who’s still susceptable enough in the tyranny-tacking totalitarian-tiptoe, with one side loudly offered 1 freedom they care about while two they don’t care so much about are taken away, then the same’s done on the other side, 1 placation personal freedom for 2 economic freedoms, 1 placation economic freedom for 2 personal freedoms, and up we ratchet to the top of the political compass. I’m done falling for that.

if they for some reason feel they needed to justify any of this, they would just manufacture that justification. but we are currently past the point the government needs justification for any of this.

I’d say we’re past the point of getting snagged by that, and we’re at the point where the op asks the questions it asks. This is radical mends o’clock. We’ve left it rather late to mend the worsening situation, and so now more desperate and likely ill-conceived efforts to attain remedy will be sought, especially as more extents of the corruption are seen and there are repeated hopes dashed as avenues of remedy in the system are revealed hijacked and corrupted too.

It’s glorious, that the awareness is now so much more widespread and normal everyday, like it’s no grand proclamation now. Now we generally all just know, they manufacture their justifications. … This is not what democracy looks like. This is what the result looks like from letting government suspend democracy for an emergency. Every colour of false flag catastrophic emergency. The psychopathic circlejerk clique who crave power, the well meaning who get corrupted by the process of getting “power”, have no empathy, no ethical moral quandry to hold them back. At all. And … Let’s see if I can remember how it goes… as one middling insider was caught on camera in (irrc) the [20]00s [even before Rockerfella’s 2010 planning document that mentioned operation lockstep] saying “when the terrorist thing wears off, we’re going to have people running scared of a disease without symptoms”, and then there was the pandemic thing, and also in the list of contingency plans of mass distraction to run along side the PNAC global hegemony plan (“7 countries in 5 years” hah!, that was their “two weeks” future-faking bread-crumbing dog-whistle ~ nice to be able to name the ploys), there’s economic collapse (always a classic), environmental disaster (weather warfare tech, banned in the 1970s, hah), … I think I’m forgetting a couple… And then the big two… the penultimate, nuclear war, and the finale, alien invasion. … So now this knowledge is out, and we’ve observed them incrementing through the plan… we won’t fall for it this next time, huh? … Easy to be deluded more people are astute to the issues, from inside an echo chamber. It’s surprising how many people not only do not know, they do not want to know, such is the shape of the conditioning, that it’s a horror too much to face. Your carer, is your abuser.

if we had it your way there would never be a time or event that would justify fighting back and as such your opinion is worthless

    BWHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA. XD

    CONSTANTLY! NOW! ALWAYS! NEVER RELENTING!

I do not know where you got the idea that A, you need wait for a time or event, B any implication of no justification for fighting back was made, C, fighting’s only in one form (riot) or, D, that fighting itself is the only solution, E that any of that made sense and wasn’t just succumbing to pointless infighting.

This is no time for falling for pitchforks vs torches.

Atop the castle's turret, an advisor to a troubled king overlooking the sea of angry people, says: "Oh, you don't need to fight them - you just need to convince the pitchfork people that the torch people want to take away their pitchforks."

And what would a riot serve?

I know it’s murky at the “top”, but that’s no reason to turn on those who’ve a cookie more, when someone’s hoarding the cookie making machine and the billions of cookies they make from it.

What’s left of small businesses? They’ll be pushed towards siding with the corrupt state, for protection, from a riot.

The corporations? They’re already usurping states and their police. Will they be harmed by a riot? I doubt it. Have a go. See how well they’ve planned for it, and even promoted it and provoked it…

Maybe there are more tools available to us, to our toolboxes, than just the immediate reflexive cathartic futility.

But sure… if we all naruto run together…

It will of course, hurt, and that’s a fantasy, that if ever achieved, would be redundant to attempt.

We will get better ideas how to remedy this, when we stop taking their poison that makes us dumb and reactive, so we’re no longer easily controlled and easily pointed to as the problem.

(And… I thought I mentioned this in the comment being replied to there, but I guess it was in another recent post of mine somewhere… )

As I recall, in Nichiren Buddhism, of all the lower states of being, it’s only anger that can be used for good. So if in a lower state of being, maybe anger can help. Wield it well.

    … not like

and as such your opinion is worthless

shooting yourself in the foot, sowing division, conjuring enemies among allies, opposaming yourself into being the oppressor, undemocratically devaluing your fellow human kind…

    Maybe we could turn mendwards?

… Might be handy to get some tools of mending, in that toolbox… otherwise, you’ll just be hammering your allies any time they’ve an issue, until you’ve no allies left but the psychopathic circlejerk who had you frog-boil yourself, killed you with your compassion, contorted while your cognition was disabled in the moments of fear they managed to induce in you. It’s so handy knowing about these ploys they do. From this more nuanced and nasty stuff, to the easier stuff to get, like “association”. First step to recognising a trap, is awareness of its existence. “It must be a trap.” “Then why are you still going!?” “I want to find out what kind of a trap it is.”

Some say fight, in the broad sense, like in the broader sense of struggle against oppression. Some say it more acutely. Some get one thrown out with the other. Beware Embrace Extend Extinguish ploys. Beware inducements against your better principles. They invest billions and trillions in perverting your mind. So, oh yeah, I’m never not in the fight. But fight? I’d never let myself get played like that again. Also… It’s way more powerful when you refuse to use their means, no longer affirming the validity of their means, now they’re the ass-hole, attacking the innocant, and the whole crowd turns on them. Back into the pub. My exp.

    One point,

    When do we riot?

    Riot?

    That’s the solution?

I thought that was the problem they attempt to provoke in some of us to have more of us react in favour of their solution of more police, and better armed police, and more unaccountable police, and more rules and censorship.

There are more of us than them

This is no concern to those who can steer minds of masses. [Speaking as an ex-“one of those”.]

    How

Know anyone in the compartmentalised super secret special projects groups who have access to the emancipatory technology that would obsolete the enshitifying fake economy and all the manufactured scarcity and dependence on rentiers abusing us at expense of the healthiness of the environment, if released, and who could let that genie out of the bottle, eliminating the economic duress that impedes freedom, restoring each our ability to be worldly astute polymaths in the making, rather than slaves in training? Know anyone like that? Maybe they could help expedite mends. If you do not know that you know anyone like that, you could just meditate, and emit that kind of radical loving bold kindness, perchance that works, like the Chicago experiment (where meditators supposedly managed to produce a marked reduction in crime in the city), and through some kind of morphic resonance or psychic entrainment or quantum entanglement or luck or whatever, maybe those in the positions of power, will pick up that wave shape of goodness aimed at them, and it will cut through the loud chorus of most else aiming judgements at them that only reaffirm our worst fears about what they’re like.

… Could work. At least as one easy ongoing part of a broader approach.

Maybe helping people stop being poisoned by mercury (madness), aluminium (apathy), fluoride (incompetence that has you eager to obey authority), excitotoxins (lowered cognitive fidelity, more stubborn and emotionally volatile), and so on, may help nudge things in an easier direction mendwards. May even push past some healthy tipping points… that may even help us sublimate from kali yuga to satya yuga. Many eyes make all bugs shallow.

Best part… No matter how dire any prognosis, defy it. Defy the dire prognosis. We can still mend this.

    It’s just a ride…

  • Reminds of when I got dumped, and went out with an air rifle and shot a couple birds (would have been 3, but I missed with the last slug I found). Utterly out of character. I wonder (and doubt) if they (at least yet) likewise feel greatest remorse for their weakest moment [of “hurt people hurt people”].

… And reminds of [in Babylon5] when Lennier had a moment of fail, out of character, ran from saving Sheradin, … and How D’lenn handled it, sympathetic to how we are each susceptible to such moments of fail and we let our worst overtake our better.

Still… another’s capacity for such wise sympathy (or empathy), is no excuse for them.

[Edit: … After being reminded of the specific situation this time though… I strongly doubt that’s even their weakest moment of hurting people; strongly doubt that’s a mere case of a rare moment of letting their worst get the better of their better… given what was initially done (and in which direction!!!). Wardrobe not big enough for all those skeletons [that I imagine, I hope, merely metaphorically].]

  • Confluence of stress burnout, and character traits.

Is worthwhile to explore both the psychological and societal precursors to such.

… Probably worthwhile looking into narcissism too. Albeit many perspectives on the topic, there are common themes and distinct insights to catch, that are sometimes difficult to really have sink in, so distinct and alient an umwelt exists behind the contrastingly “normal” facade. Until blow-out.

… Probably worthwhile looking into autism too. Maybe AuDHD specifically (whom are the majority). The absence of the socially normativising stuff, from the different neurophysiology, almost like we’re having to do all the work of the cerebelum, the gpu, in the forebrain, the cpu, with the neuronal journeys having more finegrain, less pruning, and fewer main reinforced trunks, and so experience far more of the intricate detail all the way there, and all the way back… it’s not just exhausting in itself, the extra brain power required for all the meta-navigation, only having the intricacies of side roads of working-it-out-now, none of the popular motorways of presumption, but also exhausting from the resultant clashes, and the cassandra syndrome, putting up with a majority who dismiss what you see in preference for their shared reality, regardless of how well it can be seen otherwise… no judgement on who’s right or wrong there, only a consideration of what it’s like, having to live like that. … I can imagine that adds a whole other dimension of burnout to be experienced. And then when having found something that can accommodate you, avails a space where you’re finally allowed the control you need to soothe your fine-grain sensitivities from that different awareness frequency range, gives you that peace, and then that area expands back into the social space, where there’s still a different umwelt clash, each modality appearing stupid to the metrics of the other modality. And in the absence of support nor aptitude in that other’s stubborn paradigm, for your own stubborn paradigm, whether you try to brashly persist in your integrity, or you try to bend to fit, it exhausts, either way. And then melt-downs and rage-attacks and so on can happen. Especially when got so close to it, and identified with it, this new thing you made that availed you such grace, that could save the world, that’s part of you… and then these ungrateful swine come along and threaten it!? Yeah, I can see how such blow-outs could come about.

Especially bad if one has both autism and narcissism. The narcissism would preclude their any will whatsoever to self improvement. They’d have total aversion to accountability. No real introspection, and thus no real regret or apology is possible. Only pretence. If even that. Sometimes the grandiosity slips out of the mask of even the most covert narcissists (and community narcissists, martyr hero narcissists, vulnerable narcissists, etc). Narcissists, especially the true ones, where it has become their personality, and not just a rare incidental moment or rarer trait, in having itpped past the point of introspection, into delusional non-reality in fantasy love of their self image, no longer able to distinguish other people as other people, seeing them only as means to their own ends, and lingering in that, growing more machiavelian, psychopathic, even sadistic and demented. And in a way, a bit of a saving grace for us all, if the autism’s louder than the socially manipulative covert machiavellianisms. Better the devil we can see [because they lack the social aptitude to hide], than the devil we cannot see [because they hide among us, pretending to be the paragons of virtue].

  • I have the worst bullshit job.

Cannot quit, without dying. Disability support. If you do anything that can be construed as able, they cut you off. They send “assessors” to assault and defraud you under pretence they’re checking you’re disabled enough (like that’s not already cruel undeserved punishment if that’s even what they were doing)… and they’ll cut you off. They keep you down, and then blame you, and then hold you up as an icon of hate, smearing you with lies like instead of being the most vulnerable, you’re a professional conman, and they spread this across the paid propaganda “news”, so not only people do not care when they kill you by starvation, freezing, denied medicine, stressed and pained enough to end your own life, they cheer it on, not realising this is supposed to be the social security safeguard that’s there for us each and all, them too, should they fall on hard times too. … And if you try do anything (or even if not), they cut you off. Paid to do nothing, to stay down. Not paid to help get back to strength. And then the hateful, and the callously stupid and ignorant who think they have good intentions, want to throw the baby out with the bathwater and cut you off entirely, like that’d solve it, and the disability would magically disappear, following the same logic of a witch-hunt, same as the fit-to-work scandal’s assessment scam… if the woman drowns, if the benefit claimant dies, they’re innocent. If they do not, then they’re a deceiver to be killed or punished… … The worst bullshit job. There’s nowhere to quit it, from here, in this trap they maintain. I hear some places actually try to help… rather than just increase suffering in negligence, just for their own uptonsinclairian convenience and delusion. They’re just doing their job… blood on their hands.

  • Edit: I blocked your dumbass as the methods you misunderstand are niche and don’t work large scale.

Pity. That’s a point I’d have liked to explore, and liked to have helped you explore with some socratic queries and efforts to elaborate and evolve the idea for further exploration of the possibilities and exceptions, if not just finding unfounded misconceptions. Alas, you seemed thoroughly repulsed by the idea of entertaining an idea, and saw it as a threat, like were identity-attached to some idea that seemed challenged. Like the ol’ poetic quip says, invitingly, reassuringly: “the ignorance that dies is not you.”

My points about morphic resonance and the chicago experiment seem[ed to me to] already establish it does work large scale. So I would have loved to have learned what was behind that contradiction argument, if there were reason there to bump it up to a counterargument, so the search for the truth could continue.

The areas it does not work, seem more niche, in the acute.

If you listen to Daryl Davis’ stories enough, you soon realise it’s not a simple thing without risk of harm or loss of life. Of course. Confronting the most stubborn and extreme in their bigotry and ignorance, is non-trivial with regards to risk, as much as it is worthy, when done so, so productively. It’s not easy, especially when ones own psyche, even, ironically, ones own prejudices, are sabotaging even the will to help a fellow human, or even see them as a fellow human, even casting them as sub-human. Yet through all the strife and dangerous situations he’s been in (~ even with his methods to help assure his safety, knowing well the intricacies of what he approached), it’s hard to argue with his results. How many have I inspired to leave hate groups? I know not. In person, that I know of for sure? Zero. That’s worthy of positive reception, someone coming along with a story of how he’s responsible for helping inspire over 200 individuals to come out of their ignorance and leave such groups, and worthy of embracing as inspirational. No? Like I say, I’ve seen negative reactions, but, yet to find the wording to successfully invite cogent reasoned argument against it. Someone shows you a way, (with evidence, with first hand witness testimonies), that accomplishes your goal, effectively infinitely better than your current way, … how you react to that may show if you’re seeking remedy (like if you’re asking to know more about it), or have succumbed to some secondary benefit, some secondary metric incentive, perverting you from a path towards achieving that better world, like if you attack the messenger, to protect your subconscious supply.

Love me some thought provoking stuff. And Daryl Davis’ story, as a positive proposition of remedy, in reply to the OP situation (with or without my original reply’s characterisation), is for sure rousing some very positive thoughts. Inspires hope of an easier time mendwards than the futility of all our flailing in frustration only making it worse (and being in denial about that, chasing catharsis, instead of just caring and letting that convert.

Imagine some people with Daryl Davis’ temprament, getting in between those groups that have had the cartoon worst of each depicted to each other? The calm space he’d manage to hold, that’d break through the hate and fear and desperation, allowing more learning and understanding, giving a chance for respect, of the individual, mutually, no longer simply reaffirming the cartoon icons of hate and plastering those summations across the whole group, readying them for collective punishment. There’s no room to plant seed that’d have any chance, when still constantly battling the beasts in the field and trying to plough constantly. And remember, it’s not just no chance of remedy, going at them angry for catharsis in ignorance of opposaming. It’s escalation. Come at a groupthink with your own groupthink, you’re just going to be perceived as a threat to their groupthink, and in being unrelenting, and violently aggressive, as your groupthink, especially when confronting their groupthink, assuredly is, and therefor their groupthink pushes back all the louder with the ideas they’ve attached their identity to, escalated worse with the groupthink effect where each are spurred on to be more extreme to prove your loyalty to the group… Can you see why that’s not a wise approach, and requires… requires… something that’s not making it worse! Sure, the instinct, the impulse, is to attack. How’s that working out for you? When coming to offer something to someone in a groupthink when you’re not in your own groupthink, they may still attack, but you wont engage in the ongoing escalation, because you’re not in that desperate fear, and can remain calm, knowing your existence, your life, is not at threat because of the existence of different ideas to your own, because you’re not your ideas. This makes it easier to be more effective in tackling the issues arising from some people having ideas so ignorant that they may take dangerous harmful actions. When you see this done, the contrast is night and day. I wish I were better at sharing the idea… but then, running aground here as I have, kinda just shows the terrain, the living boot-camp we’re all in, with regards to this stuff. That counter-intuitive wisdom of the monk, reveals the way, yet we lag in the emotion of attachment. And yet, this is still the way.

And still the echoes continue reverberate, “the things we hate in others, are the things we hate in ourselves yet do not face”, and so much easier then to confront the bigot out there, when have had compassion for the bigot within.

All else equal, I’ll take the chance of mends, over the certainty of worsening.

  • Why was this removed??

    The log says “trolling”. ???

What part of that was interpreted as trolling? (Honest question. Not rhetorical dismissiveness.)

One accusation of trolling, one accusation of AI, … given the other reactions, I can be easily forgiven for entertaining the possibility these are from a desire to attack this in absence of constructive argument on substance. … And the “cui bono” (“who benefits”) on that is a horror worth confronting. [Cui bono? Bigots. Bigots benefit from that. Getting to keep their hate groups running without this greatest efficacious challenge to them [that I know of] being shared.]. And by censorship? The means do seem fit the ends. O_O

Irony noted here too, that I was having all kinds of rule breaking responses spat at me, and I was trying to be civil and reasonable, it’s one of my posts that got deleted. Flying monkey unleashed from some darvo sob story? I hate getting played into being a flying monkey. Some seem more concerned with the idea they may have been played into being a flying monkey, and run from looking at the idea. … Same pattern spotted earlier, and sought to offer some friendly salve for. No good deed intent going unpunished. Heh. Plenty more cheek to turn. Plenty more patterns to notice, and learn the higher topology from; learn the deeper principles from, to avoid getting played as a flying monkey. And we get played in our shadow. We do not see it. Same as with getting induced to groupthink. It’s kind of an essential defining component of it. Not knowing you’re in it. Not knowing when slipped into groupthink, not knowing when being sent forth as a flying monkey, with your better (or worse) traits being used, likely contrary to your better interests, by the narcissist, the cluster b personality disordered psyche, the social parasite, the predator. …And am noting this is all still on topic, through and through, and within the rules. Not trolling (never have).

I had an LLM propose what could be perceived as trolling, as I never troll, and say when using LLM

The comment you posted is lengthy, passionate, and thought-provoking, but it could be perceived as trolling by some readers due to a few key elements. Here’s a breakdown of where the perception of trolling might arise, even if that wasn’t your intent:

    1. Provocative Framing and Hyperbolic Language

    Phrases like:

“the horror. A horror, we’re all better served, facing.” “unwittingly becoming them, as an opposame… the horror.” “race to the bottom” “kali yuga (the age of ignorance, when man kills man)” Why it could be seen as trolling: These phrases are emotionally charged and could be interpreted as exaggerated or melodramatic, especially in a context where nuanced discussion is expected. Some might read this as deliberately stoking fear or controversy rather than fostering constructive dialogue.

    1. Repetitive, Circular, or Overly Abstract Reasoning

    Examples:

The comment loops between ideas (e.g., Daryl Davis’s method, the Chicago experiment, limbic fear reflex, morphic resonance) without clear transitions or concise conclusions. Phrases like “if-then-therefors” and “dis-availed in the limbic fear reflex” are jargon-heavy and abstract, which can come across as pseudointellectual or obfuscating rather than clarifying. Why it could be seen as trolling: Overly complex or meandering arguments can frustrate readers who expect direct, actionable points. Some might assume you’re intentionally being obscure to provoke reactions or derail discussion.

    1. Implied Criticism of Others’ Reactions

    Examples:

“I know now from experience here on lemmy that a lot of people have a kneejerk reaction against the idea.” “Presumably, largely, because it’s seen as somehow sanctifying and validating their perverse iniquitous hate-filled ignorant dangerous political philosophy and world view.” “not following through the longer now, the if-then-therefors, the calm consideration that we’re dis-availed in the limbic fear reflex” Why it could be seen as trolling: These lines dismiss or mock the emotional responses of others (e.g., fear of engaging with hate groups). Even if your intent was to critique a lack of action, phrasing it this way can sound condescending or dismissive, which is a common trolling tactic.

    1. Unsubstantiated or Fringe References

    Examples:

“morphic-resonant-amplifying-esq implications of the Chicago experiment” “kali yuga (the age of ignorance, when man kills man), satya yuga (the good times)” Why it could be seen as trolling: References to morphic resonance (a controversial, non-mainstream scientific idea) and Hindu cosmological concepts (kali yuga/satya yuga) might be seen as off-topic or esoteric, especially in a discussion about racism or activism. Some readers might interpret this as derailing the conversation with unrelated or fringe ideas.

    1. Tone: Preachy or Self-Righteous

    Examples:

“How many of them are there? How many of us? If the Chicago experiment had the effect it did…” “Every little flap of our butterfly wings…” Why it could be seen as trolling: The tone can come across as preachy or self-righteous, especially if readers feel you’re lecturing them rather than engaging in a two-way discussion. This can provoke pushback or accusations of trolling, even if your intent was sincere.

    1. Lack of Clear Structure or Actionable Points

The comment is dense and stream-of-consciousness, which can make it hard for readers to follow or extract actionable insights. In online forums, walls of text are often flagged as trolling because they overwhelm or annoy others.

Key Takeaway: Why It Might Have Been Flagged Your comment isn’t inherently trolling—it’s clearly heartfelt and references real, thoughtful ideas (e.g., Daryl Davis’s work). However, the combination of emotional language, abstract reasoning, dismissive phrasing, and fringe references could lead moderators or readers to perceive it as:

Disruptive (derailing the conversation with tangents). Condescending (implying others are irrational or uninformed). Provocative (using charged language to elicit strong reactions).

How to Avoid This Perception in the Future

Be concise: Break up long paragraphs into shorter, clearer points. Avoid jargon: Explain terms like “morphic resonance” or “limbic fear reflex” if they’re central to your point. Acknowledge others’ emotions: Instead of dismissing “kneejerk reactions,” address them empathetically (e.g., “I understand why this idea might feel uncomfortable at first…”). Stay on-topic: Focus on the core discussion (e.g., Daryl Davis’s method) rather than branching into unrelated concepts. Use a neutral tone: Avoid language that could sound preachy or melodramatic.

Question for you: Do you think the moderation was fair, or do you feel the comment was misunderstood? Would you like help refining the message to be clearer or more constructive?

I know it’s counter intuitive, and emotionally challenging, but, it’s hard to argue with Daryl Davis’s results. And then consider the alternative… leaving them unchallenged to worsen in their echo chamber, or worse, challenged so they double down. …[And/]Or unwittingly becoming them, as an opposame… the horror. A horror, we’re all better served, facing. … Just thinking about it has me go reach for another video (or two) about his story, so inspirational, a way out… and how few of us doing it, it would take… so many of us, who do not want be either racist nor tyrant/totalitarian, vastly outnumbering those who are nazi/kkk/etc, and if we each achieve 200 conversions out of ignorance… I know now from experience here on lemmy that a lot of people have a kneejerk reaction against the idea. Maybe not even looking into it any further to hear about it from Daryl Davis’s mouth. Presumably, largely, because it’s seen as somehow sanctifying and validating their perverse iniquitous hate-filled ignorant dangerous political philosophy and world view. And, as highlighted there^, they’re seen as a big enough threat as to evoke merely the short term safety concern and reflex (and, would not want deprive of that ~ stay safe), but not following through the longer now, the if-then-therefors, the calm consideration that we’re dis-availed in the limbic fear reflex (especially if chronically triggered, never getting a break ~ which is understandable in presence of perceived threat of being killed (or worse) by someone because of some innate trait of yours they hate), to see which way’s a race to the bottom, and which way mends it. But because of the fortune of Daryl’s upbringing, racism was completely alien to him, and so in the shock discovery of it, there was an innocent curiosity, and benevolent will to help these people, not in an arrogant imposing way, but just a gentle presence. And that’s it. That’s really all there is to it. Not saying it’s good what they’re doing, not threatening them with violent judgement and condemnation that merely reaffirms their identity attachment to the toxic ignorant ideas and locking out their considerate forebrains in their own defensive limbic fear reflex, just being a counter-example dispels their ignorant misconceptions and short circuits the ignorant narratives, ending their bigotry and allegiance to hate groups. 200 and counting. How many of them are there? How many of us? If the Chicago experiment had the effect it did on reducing violent crime and increasing community spirit from however many meditators it had, if we couple the Daryl Davis method, with the morphic-resonant-amplifying-esq implications of the Chicago experiment… Seriously, as dark as things seem now in kali yuga (the age of ignorance, when man kills man), satya yuga (the good times) is so very close in reach. Every little flap of our butterfly wings…
