Wasn’t there a video of a photo op with him and a little girl, and he kissed the girl very creepily?

politics @lemmy.world•GOP governors mum as Congress prepares to slash Medicaid spending for their states
51·5 months agoOne thing I’ve learned over the years is how pitiful humans are.
You would think people who are higher ups in healthcare care systems would have good healthcare benefits. Reality is no. They still have to go through red tapes and get rejected for their care.
Like, how tf are you ruining a system meanwhile you personally also suffering from it?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What direction do you think tech in general will go in 5 years (ignoring AI)
11·5 months agoWe will see more and more ridiculous subscriptions. I’m talking about $200+ a month. It could be cloud services (AI or not) streaming bundle, phone plan, car entertainment plan, etc.
Top 10% accounts for 50% of consumer spending. This trend only gets worse, and soon enough, companies will stop caring about poor people and tailor their services to the rich.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Tomorrow you wake up with the power of Superman for 48 hours, what's on your to do list?
31·6 months agoProbably do some miracles on national tv and populated areas, then create a new book club. Create sanctuaries for book study groups. Assign leaders across the world from those who protect the people.
This time the book is written using formal logic so it’s impossible to misunderstand and pick and choose what you want to follow. It only provides a logic framework of being kind and empathetic to others, respecting their rights(and what rights are), and consent, etc. This time the book will be timeless with no contradictions.
Then kindly “convince” a couple of billionaires and world leaders to donate 99.9% of their wealth to the new cause. 48 hours are too short to change the world for good. But you can kickstart a brilliant process towards a great future.

2·6 months agoJust bring one of the voting machines to defcon. They will dump it into a VM and emulate the election date or reverse engineer the firmware or something, and we will get hard evidence in no time.

122·6 months agoFreemium is the way to go. All the essential features are free; you can pay for extra stuff like special emojis, coins(like Reddit silver/gold), or customizable profiles. It could be either a subscription or à la carte.
Simply giving something in return would incentivize people to donate more.
Unlike Reddit, the profit should give back to the communities by adding more features, paying developers to maintain open source projects, giveaways etc.

4·6 months agoDamn. I thought these kinds of things only exist for a fully automated society, where AI and robots replace all the jobs, and everybody gets UBI. Some people might have nothing else to do, so they voluntarily go to (role play) work so they have a predictable life filled with purpose.
Now they just use LLM to generate formulas to calculate tariffs that fit their fantasy. Gosh I wish they actually taste their own failure for once not just constantly fail up.
This. Use Amazon to find the brand, and go to their website to buy directly. The seller website is the same price on the surface, but you can almost always get a coupon that’s cheaper than Amazon. (Amazon FBA charges like 30%)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Assuming we live in a simulation, at which layer are we ?
9·8 months agoThe fact that light speed is actually the speed of causality is pretty compelling evidence that our universe is a simulation and that’s the clock speed of the CPU or the set simulation speed…
That being said, I think it’s more fucked than that. The simulation could be more recursive and fractal. Like, some universe can be a projection of another universe that’s projected by another universe, but somehow you land back to itself.
We don’t need historians. We need people who are willing to risk their career to put up a fight. Documenting is just a word for being a bystander and let it happen.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is everyone's favoured domain name provider these days?
9·9 months agoTheir price seems cheap, but they slowly hike up the price over time. Their API is so bad that it’s a classic example of what a company doesn’t reinvent themselves and sit on their reputation and status quo.

Actually, in the latest beta, they reduced the glass effects.
In case you missed it, find an iOS beta 1 video and see how they are rendering photorealistic light reflections on the glass UI…
