Musk grifted half a trillion dollars by teaming up with republicans to kneecap the government and steal everything he could in the aftermath. The whole “falling out” was laughably for show, they all got exactly what they wanted. And he’ll do it again, you can bet your ass on that.

I believe he also gets royalties from shows due to the name change, so it’s a double grift.

I think this phenomenon stems from a few different factors. Namely, they are paid to shift rightward by corporate donors who want lower taxes and no regulations, traditionally “conservative” policies. This is legal bribery due to citizens united, which is poison policy for any semblance of true democracy. As an example, I think it was something along the lines of half a trillion in wealth the technocrat elites extracted from us just this year - that should be a massive red flag, and yet Dems are working bipartisan with Repugs to prevent regulation of emerging ai tech.
For those few who aren’t so easily swayed, Dems are still relying on the same DC political consultants they have for the past 30-40 years, and those guys still think socialism isn’t popular because of the manufactured hysteria surrounding leftist ideas which they played a big part in producing earlier in their careers. Some genuinely believe it, others may be more nefarious in their motives, but at the end of the day they’re all victims of their own group-think if they actually want to win.
It shouldn’t be surprising that those few Dems who are surging in popularity and winning elections due to actually embracing leftist populist policies are the same ones who refuse to accept any corporate PAC donations.

Good thing Biden gave away the public option before negotiations even began, otherwise us Americans wouldn’t be paying 3-4x plus in medical expenses thanks to this broken and corrupt insurance industry.
Surely part of Biden’s incredible popularity was his promise to add public option, instead of the far more sensible M4A, on day one of his term. After he was elected though, he must have forgor…

Yes, thank you for this small dose of reality.
There are good reasons the Dems are so wildly unpopular, and pretending that they are anything resembling “left” is a massive disservice to the people.

Dems are not left of center, get a grip.

Isn’t this because they flat-out canceled the income contingent repayment plans? I don’t believe this program exists anymore.

Trump was able to achieve this due to a cult of personality. Those on the left don’t work that way.
I agree that Dems are stuck in a helpless cycle of neoliberalism which has existed since even before the Clinton admin, beginning back in the 80s when they decided to start chasing corporate cash instead of doing right by the working class. Dems have consistently lost ground ever since, because no matter how subservient they are to corporate interests, the republicans will find ways to be worse and give them even more, and so Repugs always win that donor game anyway.
In order to transform the democrats, the corporate shills must be ousted first. AOC is in a perfect position to get rid of Schumer, one of the absolute worst offenders (and Israeli terrorist boot licker to boot). She has the name recognition, she has the clout and momentum, and she’s in New York. She can primary his ass and get rid of that major obstacle, loudly push for and hopefully pass some much needed reform, then hand pick her successor before ascending to the White House after 1 senate term. It just requires a little patience and coordination, but this is what good political strategy looks like.
We shall have to see what comes to pass, but if she rushes it in ‘28 she will be sabotaged by the establishment politicians and possibly never recover.

Baby raged in the first paragraph. Nice one.

That’s right, she isn’t ready at all. And if she manages to get into office while Schumer and Jeffries are still there, they will torpedo any good policy she proposes. They have to go first, simple as.
Btw, I’m not talking about electability. I’m talking about getting the job done and passing meaningful reform.

It’s not about bravery, she simply isn’t ready yet and needs to level up first by doing meaningful things in the senate. She’s too constrained in the house for that, and a jump to presidential run at this stage would be disastrous because she hasn’t had the opportunity yet to do things which meaningfully impact the lives of voters.
Think about how much more effective her push for M4A will be after 4 years of a shitlib like Newsom claiming sky-high insurance premiums is the best we can do. If she tries it now, the establishment will be able to leverage the heavily propagandized voting populace with their usual rhetorical tricks and she’ll be stopped.

Newsweek, go figure. It’s too early for her to run for pres. AOC needs to take Schumer’s seat first, then become pres after one or two terms loudly pushing for (and hopefully passing) good legislation.
If she runs now, it will inevitably fail and torpedo her future chances. Which is exactly what these goons are hoping for. Hope she doesn’t take the bait.

Turns out people actually do like it when your policies are aimed at helping them do better, as opposed to robbing them of what little they have left.

love ya for that, keep up the good work

lol that’s hilarious if you actually believe any of that would happen under corpo rule by those two.

So in bed with the war criminal Cheneys. Yeah, it’s too bad there wasn’t a viable alternative to Trump, but that’s what you get with despicable corrupt DNC.
She should run again with Hillary on the ticket.

They knew damn well there would be no vote and no deal.
If you live in NY, consider primarying Schumer and Jeffries. They have got to go, true cancer.

Agreed - journalism is pretty much dead in the US. Billionaires now own all the major media outlets, which are multinational for-profit corpos mind you, and it’s raw propaganda all the way down.
A few good podcasters, dropsite news, and to a lesser extent the intercept and the guardian, are pretty much all that’s left. It’s a sad, stark reminder of the rampant anti-intellectualism of the modern era.
Klobuchar is such a clown, exact wrong type of politician for this moment. Milquetoast democrats like her will serve the country up to Trump 3 on a silver platter.
