I’ve seen this come up a couple different ways and it’s almost always a scam. Social engineering to get victims buy-in with plausible tech buzzwords and investing their time as a hook.
But then again, maybe they really are soulless pricks.

I don’t even want to imagine the environmental studies and hurdles they’ll have to jump through to artificially alter an areas day/night cycle. There’s a laundry list of environmental concerns that I’m sure any homeowner or eco-activist worth their salt would jump on. Not to mention glare and impacts to air traffic, on and on.
Would make my solar panels pretty darn effective though. Would probably be great for SAD in winter too. Clever idea. Not sure I can get behind it though.
I was going to binge purchase off Temu at one point - inexpensive junk stuff to tickle my fancy. But in good conscience, I just couldn’t. It’s wasted money on stuff I don’t trust made by exploited workers or knocked off patents that ends up in a landfill.
Would I confidently let my kids play with the toys and tchotchkes? I don’t even buy stuff for them from Amazon cause of all the counterfeit and toxic crap. I know some consumers have to be extra price conscious. It sucks that they’re relegated to crap quality products that are less durable and essentially more disposable (not to say that better quality junk isn’t disposable junk in modern times).
As long as it’s before his 8 pm curfew! You never know though…he could end up ranting at an empty chair.
Had a seizure trying to read it.
My immediate first thought. In the short term, I’d be thrilled with any relief because we’re hurting but the bill doesn’t come close to addressing the root causes of runaway costs.
Never mind the quality of childcare in low and mid-income neighborhoods. You couldn’t pay for a month of quality care with the extra $500/year (800? depending on the additional tax credit) of refundable credit.
Agree with the other poster that they won’t. Apple will almost surely constrain AI to their latest flagship’s hardware in some way. They already said AI itself is limited to the 15 Pro.
I want to give it a go but the previous dev beta has wrecked my battery life, even after swapping to the public beta. From the notes though, it doesn’t seem like it’s too much of the exciting stuff.
I just can’t wait for Siri to have a semblance of intelligence.
Pffft food coupons. It’s $5 off the purchase of your next device within 15 days of issue.
I used perplexity pretty exclusively for a while. Especially for work. Both have their place and use cases but when I’m looking for something truly specific or nuanced, it’s DDG and a manual search.
Just don’t use the same gunman. We don’t need anymore ears on this.
Right? I want my 30 secs back. They would’ve been better spent on Prime Day.
Edit: serves me right for not using a /s but damn y’all. I thought it was obvious I wasn’t even remotely serious about Prime day.
I’m going to retract that claim. I think it came in one of my tech newsletters but since I can’t find it, I don’t want to mislead anyone. Maybe I’m mixing it up with another tech product.
I’m trying to find it but I know there’s an article out there showing they lose something like $1k per unit.
She’s also, astonishingly, older than Biden.
Excuse me! They prefer to be called by their name, Citizen’s United or Corporations.
He didn’t wear the mask so his brain wasn’t oxygen deprived.
I shouldn’t even write that lest I give them more conspiracy fodder.
So it’s like cooking recipes but for programming. I hope they at least add some useless background info about their Nana using DOS or what have you.
With everything going on right now, the fact that I still feel physically sick reading things like this tells me I haven’t gone completely numb yet. Just absolutely repulsive.
