char_stats@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Trump exempts smartphones from reciprocal tariffs after market routEnglish251·5 months agoDon’t forget all smartphones—except iPhones of course—still use Android, which is a Google OS with Google services. In the smartphone world, there’s no real alternative to American companies. It’s pretty much an American monopoly.
Don’t click it. It’s an ad for Tuta disguised as a tech guide.
It tells you to use Firefox+uBO to block Gmail ads in browser, not in the app.

This is the definition of fully featured and it has my favorite UI customization in any browser. Also, the ad-block section as user filters and URL ones.
Unfortunately it isn’t FOSS, so I’ll be sticking to Fennec for now. And the dark mode isn’t as good as Samsung Internet or Dark Reader, even though for minor elements.
Thanks for the recommendation nonetheless!

…anything, really. And his closest henchmen know this well, too! Just read the entire chat on Signal.
They’re just using him because he pulls (or used to pull) public consensus, while working around his bullshits.

What do you like about Ironfox that, you think, is not in other FF forks? And what’s Accrescent?

char_stats@lemm.eeOPto Android@lemmy.world•What's the state of Android browsers? Want to move away from Samsung InternetEnglish1·6 months agoFor context, my phone is an S23+ with 19.5:9 aspect ratio; I’ve actually tested FF forks, so maybe the menu items are different in number from base FF; I use the bottom bar, which apparently shortens the menu as compared to top bar; the length of the menu bar is different if viewed in a new tab page or a web page. If I’m in new tab, the menu is very short and I can access the quit button instantly.
It’s about time Mozilla lets us customize that menu. It’s full of things I don’t need or I could drop to the bottom. Like “print”? Seriously!? The times I had to print a webpage in my entire life, even on PC, is exactly zero.

I understand some may not like it, but I hope they keep it as an option at least!

char_stats@lemm.eeOPto Android@lemmy.world•What's the state of Android browsers? Want to move away from Samsung InternetEnglish2·6 months agoYour guess was correct. However, as I’m currently testing both browsers, it seems like the uBlock extension in Fennec (or any FF fork) is way superior to any filter in Vivaldi. So Fennec still on top for me.
What I found out is that Vivaldi’s filter (even uBlock and AdGuard ones) can’t block sponsored posts, while uBlock extension, apparently, can

This game, which I’m sure is great, should be part of another category of games: those with bearable ads/IAPs. I’ve been thinking about compiling such list, but it’d be incredibly tricky and time consuming to discern what’s fair from what’s annoying or predatory.
Yes, I think it was through those services. You’d pay, receive a message with the link, and download the game. However, I’ve always done it the “alternative” way.
Although I had collected a bunch of them, I rarely found myself actually playing and enjoying them. The number pad, or stick, controls were atrocious and most games weren’t that great. My most played were card games and Frozen Bubble (which is also on the Play Store now) on the phone, and Asphalt on my iPod Nano. Asphalt was really fun and with gyro controls.
