So idealistically (I know, there are regional, logistical, financial, and other challenges, but idealistically) the people on strike are actively polling and distributing their resources to help the people who are put out worse by it. That hopefully sustains people long enough for the strike to win out and for people to return to work with their problems remedied.

I’m not adopting the conspiracy here, but if they can’t find the shooter with the whole country getting behind him, then they would want the optics of finding the shooter. Which could backfire, of course. It would be very telling, for example, if the cops got real confident about it and then the real shooter made some kind of public display with the false shooter in custody.
I think the general reception of this news shows that any successful prosecution would be seen as such an injustice, and likely to spark further acts of rebellion. I almost think it’s in the ruling class’s favor to let this one go.

I don’t know what you’re currently accustomed to or what the feature/workflow differences would be, but I’ve had some music folks I know be successful with Ardour and Reaper. Have you checked to see if those would let you do your thing? The other problem I’ve had is audio interface support in Linux, but that seems to have improved a lot. I’ve got an old Axe I/O Solo that didn’t work at all a few years ago but now seems to have full support.
Honestly, “corporate mainstream media sucks” is a thing most people agree on. I know a guy who voted for Trump at least once who has been turning away from that kind of politics lately, and it’s this kind of message I hear him repeating. As a staunch antitheist, I really can’t disagree. The unitarians are pretty great. I personally know a minister and he’s very big on community outreach, supporting other local support programs like our independent food rescue, and preaching a very positive and inclusive message with minimal woo. And he has never once asked me to attend church.
