Noone ever thinks about the lawyers
I didn’t say he does this to protect employees, I think he’s doing this to protect hate speech on Twitter. Someone says something discriminating or other some other right wing bullshit on Twitter? Can’t fire them because that might get really expensive.
Elon wants to protect his far right echo chamber; free speech and all that.
Isn’t that kind of the point? Put pressure on employers so this doesn’t happen?
So it’s a browser?
You’d see comments and posts from their users on other instances that don’t block Meta.
It’s unclear how many users you would actually exclude, I think a lot of users who are on the fediverse right now don’t want to have anything to do with Meta.
As the fediverse grows, there will be different bubbles with not much interaction between those, mainly because some instances won’t be moderated while others will try to create discrimination free environments.
They shouldn’t just defederate from Meta, they should defederate from any other instances that federate with Meta. Like a firewall against late stage capitalism
It’s too late.
People should stop praising “an actual app” as an advantage.
There is nothing in functionality that a good PWA can’t do well for a Lemmy client. It’s cross platform and can be used in the browser of your choice, without the lock-in to a single app store.
People are coming from a closed system like Reddit because Reddit abused it’s power and now they’re asking for apps in a store where another company might do the same. I don’t get it.
Cognitive dissonance is really strong if you have to question the way you were living your whole life when questioning the current situation. This makes those people far more likely to be easy prey for far-right propaganda than to be waking up, I’m afraid.
