Your dad reminds me of my wife’s uncle. He has a disabled wife and is absolutely DROWNING. Apparently, this is all immigrants’ fault and Trump will solve his problems.
He’s also a raging alcoholic, and seems to be terrorizing his wife. His adult son hangs around, I think fearing what would happen to her if he left.
I see nothing in the article that indicates Trump himself feels this way. What his “advisors” think is irrelevant.
I think his argument is not about vibes, though.

I’m in the same boat. I’m a white straight guy. So, I guess I’m not in immediate danger, although I am an academic. So, I guess my choices are: fight, flee or essentially hide.
Fighting seems infeasible although I think violence is justifiable.
Fleeing would require leaving the country. I dunno if I can swing that.
So…I guess I just live my life and hope it’s not quite as bad as I fear? I dunno. I’m open to advice.

It’s increasingly the case that the reliable vote is blue due to the realignment of educated people from red to blue. College educated people are super reliable voters.

I volunteered for the Kerry campaign, and it was awful. Mostly talked to knuckle draggers who realized that Dems were more in their self interest but didn’t want gay marriage (which wasn’t even on the table as an issue then).

The constitution is a piece of paper which has no power if the people with guns say otherwise.
If we ever have the ability to repeal the 2A then the GOP is already in shambles and we’ll have the opportunity to make all kinds of other reforms that makes it impossible for them to recover.
