5 days agoOnce you master all the business with half twenties it’s just a matter of memorising which article randomly goes with every noun, knowing you’ll sound crazy if you get it wrong.

You will be absolutely fine speaking only English to start with in the nordics as well, especially if you can land a position in one of the capitals. You will be required to (and absolutely should!) learn the national language if you mean to fully migrate and become a citizen, but I’ve known people who’ve lived and worked here for decades who still only have a tenous grasp on Danish.

12·2 months agoHuh, with the sheer volume of Aussie bartenders and waiters I’ve met here in Copenhagen I assumed there was already an open border agreement in place.
Happy to hear they’ll be free to bring more great banter from down under.
3·3 years agoAll my former doomscrolling time now goes into working out, practicing French on Duolingo and going to events to meet people. So far so great!
I was under general anesthesia three times in my childhood due to arriving into this world only partially assembled.
The first time I was sedated with ether (which I believe is not in use anymore) and only remember a nurse forcing the mask over my face before waking up to the sound of my father snoring next to me. I was violently ill for the next several days, but from what I hear I got off light compared to others.
For the next two I was given some kind of euphoric stimulant (via suppository, go figure) to calm me, but from what I’ve been told it instead made me hallucinate that I was driving a race car and did so all the way to the operating theatre much to everyone’s amusement. I’m happy that I remember none of this and that it was before smart phones or I’d probably be on YouTube forever. 😅
The multinational corporations I’ve worked with in Copenhagen were English language, from the executive suite to the mail room.
And while it’s true you’ll need to offer a skill that’s in demand, the list currently includes hairdresser, baker and landscape gardener among others, not to mention pretty much all the trades, and none of them requires a diploma.
