They can run independent but VA is generally not known for supporting independents. One of the guys who was running for senator is trying it but im not sure he’ll get anywhere.

Yeah CalyxOS just came back from a hiatus due to some internal drama, and iodéOS is a French based ROM that is based on LineageOS.

CalyxOS has made some pretty nice QoL changes in the last few years that I really appreciate (Seedvault backups, Per-app, per connection type firewalling, Work profile ootb, VPN sharing over all profiles)

iodeOS offers bootloader relocking on devices that support it, and they support devices longer than Calyx & Graphene for Eco. sustainability, but you do still run the risk of the proprietary hardware drivers having vulnerabilities. I tried it out for a bit but it wasnt for me.

LineageOS via avbroot, CalyxOS and iodéOS all support bootloader relocking.

This is blatant disinformation. CalyxOS requires a relockable bootloader with their AVB key to support, and they support Fairphone, Motorola, Shift and in the past have supported OnePlus and Xiomi in addition to Google.

The reason Graphene is only on Pixels is due to the Titan security chip on Pixels being so vital to the GrapheneOS security profile.

It makes sense for a parent who values convience at the expense of everything, sure.

It doesnt make sense for parents who want their children to learn how to live independently.

Instead of actually parenting and teaching your children about the value of their labor through something like a dedicated children’s checking account (which is a real thing) you are handing that step off to google because you are too lazy to actually set up the account and monitor it.

I’m in a Matrix room with a couple of F-Droid team members and that is where i’ve gotten the information. I am unsure if it is easily found info. You might be able to ask on the forums if you want to fully fact check my statement.

It would require either every app developer on F-Droid to comply as well, or for F-Droid to implement google play style app signing, both of which ive seen F-Droid maintainers being against.

with the caveat being F-Droid would have to comply with the new developer verification system
