2·5 days agoYeah, as a car guy knowing what things cost to repair these people who do this shit 5x a week aren’t even making money in the long term. The only way to be ahead is do like Uber during an event or on weekend nights at a bar area 10-3am. Even then you might not make money if there’s too many people doing it.

World News@lemmy.world•Gordon Ramsay one of the first celebrity chefs to bring US-style 20 % service chargeEnglish
13·5 days agoThat’s why I don’t use food delivery services in the US. They say free delivery ect, then they add 30% to the food costs plus processing plus if you actually want your food hot. I don’t mind paying for the service, but don’t bullshit me like I’m a 5 years old and don’t understand what you’re doing. Just charge me $10 to deliver it or whatever and call it a fucking day.

World News@lemmy.world•‘We will not survive’: Toyota, Honda and Ford CEOs issue chilling warning about China — and it could hit your portfolioEnglish
12·5 days agoTBH, Chinese cars are pretty shitty. Their EVs have thermal runaway at an incredibly higher rate. BYDs storage facility just went up because a car sitting there caught fire.
As far as price, yeah it’s not competitive when they pay their workers 10% what Western countries do and give them a coffin apartment to stay in. Then steal the IP from other countries so they have nothing in R&D.
Here’s their clone of a Taycan, which also finished dead last in reliability tests because people were burning alive in them and crashing because systems would go nuts causing crashes. You enjoy your Chinese EV you saved money on, just keep that shit a mile from my house or “crappy non Chinese car” https://autopostglobal.com/electric-future/article/51496/

Technology@lemmy.world•Federal Surveillance Tech Becomes Mandatory in New Cars by 2027English
2·7 days agoIt’ll be like the 70s in the US again. Rip out all the bullshit smog stuff and put on a new carb. Because a v8 mustang shouldn’t be making 130hp.
Yeah, I’d say they are in comparison. The problem is they’re really really expensive. I get it isn’t ever going to be cheap or cheaper to do it their way, but the buy in is like double to triple. That doesn’t include replacement/upgrade parts down the road. It’s worth it for a really small niche of people for sure though.

Users: We just want OS wide dark mode, AI not rammed down our throats, and non stop ads, and hopefully updates that don’t break everything repeatedly.
MS: We hear you loud and clear! We’re implementing AI into every single thing and the ADs will now be targeted based on information we’ve stol…collected from you!
MS: I don’t get it, why does everyone hate us?

23·7 days agoThe question is can they survive when their cars catch on fire at an alarming rate? https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/hundreds-cars-burn-byd-fire-130025851.html
And they say batteries aren’t to blame, because you know car seats, electric motors, and body panels are known for just randomly catching fire. It obviously wasn’t the batteries /s

For sure, lobbyists need to be gone period.
I don’t honestly think you could rewrite the Constitution and have it be impartial in the slightest. Maybe if you pulled 100+ random Americans and put them in a room for a year with no outside contact. There’s no politician that isn’t bought already that should do it.

Thanks for the laugh lol. 100% on point.
I’ve commented before but I will again because I got a lot more answers than I was expecting. Thank you everyone so much, there is a ton of info that I’ve never heard or even considered.

For real, lived in China for 5 years, it’s the most racist country I’ve been to. They even discriminate people from where they’re from in the country, it’s nuts.
Can you imagine if the US started a legit government backed operation in 2026 called One US Policy and forced everyone be “white” Christians? And I don’t mean suggestions, they FORCED you to do it. It would be world news about how the US is racist and whateverist ect. China? Nah it’s cool they’re just “unifying”.
