Most honorable? Just tell them you made a stupid mistake. You don’t need to share the details. Will they talk? Sure. But you don’t need to share if you don’t want to.
Least shameful? You were mistaken for someone else who made a stupid mistake and didn’t have your ID on you. They let you go when they realized you weren’t who they thought.

Absolutely. If you learn about visual hierarchy in design, one of the first things that you learn is that those who have language that read from left to right will instinctively look at the top left, across, and top to bottom, in kind of an “F” pattern.

Reading is allowing someone’s thoughts directly into your brain. You’re letting me transmit my thoughts to you right now.

Thanks for sharing, that is a neat design.

This is so interesting to me. I had a theory that a lot of the free birth movement stemmed from the financial barriers to medically supported birth in the US, and wanting to reclaim some kind of control. If it’s their choice to not seek medical care it’s empowering- if they can’t afford it, they are disenfranchised. In a nation of “temporarily embarrassed millionaires” nobody wants to admit they are too poor for healthcare. Being able to curate an image on social media of how this is the “better” option- even if they convince themselves to genuinely believe it!- let’s them keep self esteem.
Canada doesn’t have the same financial barriers but we are so steeped in American media that I’m not surprised it’s caught on here.
What I am surprised about is how are they making money??? What are you selling??

That’s the point, friend.

It kind of is national security shit, if the people whose mentions were redacted have any bearing on national security. Keeping them redacted means they are vulnerable to extortion.

I know people are doubting this happened but I’m pretty sure it’s a symptom of paranoid schizophrenia to think that one’s electronics are trying to speak to you.

Is he trying to claim he’s Alethi?

What did the puppy do to deserve that?

I’m not sure if you mean psychopaths or sycophants but I’m into this lady mondegreen of yours.

Appreciate you trying to share perspective, and you’re right that the current climate of selling fear begets violence. That said, the next step is to hope that the perpetrator is penalized to the full extent of the law because anything less normalizes this reaction.

I meant that they are still a killer. Even if they are deemed incompetent to stand trial, they’ve taken a life. Yes, castle doctrine exists, but in most other places the wording is “reasonable force”. As in, it would be unreasonable to attack and kill someone unarmed at your door regardless of what you thought their intentions were.

I wonder if there is a name for someone who kills someone who shows up at their door, even if they thought that person was a threat.

Comparing to the dotcom bubble is what finally made it make sense in my brain. Though I know the toll it took on that sector’s workers and I don’t envy those in fields that are going to be affected the same way.

Can you explain how we’re beyond bubbles like I’m 5? Is it that there are gentler market corrections now?
I’m sorry that you’re going through it. I’ve been there myself. I hope you that you have the support you need, and you’re right- all things change eventually. Your debuff does have a countdown, you just can’t see it.
The second example kind of feels like the Third Man Factor.
