  • IIRC the only thing we needed was a physical done within 90 (30?) days of traveling to your country of choice for immigration (this applies only to the EU, because that’s where we emigrated to) and honestly don’t think they took blood work.

Is it part of your visa requirements?

Also, just so you know, you can go ahead and get any tests done because the country only accepts the paperwork you give them.

  • Relax (as much as possible), the only one that thinks you’re being awkward is you.

I’m assuming you’re in college or college age, which is a time when most young people are on their own for the first time. You’re going to fuck up, and that ok, because this is the time to do it.

When you’re in a social situation, you can try and replace it with a scene in your head, and you’re playing a part. It works for me when I’m trying to speak a second language… I use my ‘radio voice’.

Try not to work yourself up too much, you got delt a shit card growing up and just being there is a huge step.

  • So here’s a picture of a potato that escaped to the back of our cabinet and lived it’s best life.

I’m thinking it went on it’s merry way during our vacation in the cold months, and by the time we got back the stink had dissipated (plus, we live in a loft so the smell would not be trapped in a room). Either way, we didn’t find it until months later and dried out.

…looks like a little pirate ship, lol

  • Sold our house at the right time (Trump presidency #1), funded a year & a half in the EU with ‘no income’ (you need to show income plus have enough funds to show independence -and family send letters of assurance & their bank statements for support, plus private insurance, etc. & patience.

Found an amazing town in 3.months and have been here for 7 years, restaurant opened 4 months before COVID lockdown, the landlord was amazing throughout the whole ordeal, didn’t charge the 3 months closure, we paid half rent for the 1st year and were able to repay it within a year). Neighbors were amazing (again) very supportive through the whole deal.

This is when we found out we can do it just by ourselves…the kids then some casual employees PT during the high season. This year we had 2 neighbors kids work with us for their first ‘real job’.

Great community, we work very hard but have some awesome quality of life (Mediterranean is 500m away) and more than anything got lucky.

    I wish others the same!
