help-circle

  • I guess it does depend on what you call a circle. There are maybe a dozen of us in one. In the other there are probably three or four dozen. I don’t know everyone. I got invited because I like genre bending. We’ve got a private forum where we share things.

Even outside of that, there is a place that used to be less private but has now gone private (guess why) where we would do Sunday songwriters. We’d get a topic, record a little something before the next Sunday, then share. After sharing we’d critique, do mashups, genre hop, create genre crossovers, and generally just have fun with each other’s music.

I do not know how prevalent this is. I know of two private places, one of which is very small, and a third place that used to be public (with no expectation of anyone actually seeing it) but went private because of Suno.

  • That’s a fair call out! I talked shit and didn’t back it up.

It’s no contest. Talarico is the more progressive of the two. I’m glad Allred dropped out because he’s milquetoast. Crockett is proud of being a corporate Democrat. Talarico has called what Israel is doing atrocities and war crimes. He’s headed in the correct direction on healthcare even if I disagree on the nuances. He’s vocal about the billionaire donor issue. My biggest beef is how much of his platform is based on being a Christian, but that’s a strength here whether I like it or not. And to be fair he calls out the people using the religion to be racist jackasses so, unlike a lot of the cowards, he is trying to clean house.

If Crockett is the nominee I’ll vote for her. But unless and until then Talarico gets my money, attention, and time.

  • That ain’t no fucking joke. I think I know maybe 3 couples that made it through Power School and only one that are still together. One guy is married to his ex-wife’s sister though, so maybe that counts.

I had a lot of insecurity (that led to some much needed humility) there that would have tanked any relationship I had. I was used to being the smartest guy in the room. I got there and I was painfully average with very little idea of how to work hard mentally. It was a rude but necessary awakening that made me an insufferable dick privately but helped me a lot in the long run.

Also got the best advice of my life from one of the instructors in A school. Most of the administration told us not to break the rules. This guy, every time we left for the weekend, told us “be discreet”.
