We have a viable third party here in Canada but people’s main excuse “they’ll never win”. Like, no shit, you keep saying you like their platform so fucking DO something about it!

The dumbest thing for the US specifically is that there IS a movement forming. Progressives are winning primaries, Mamdani is fixing NYC in record time and pulling no punches, and people are getting excited about it even in other countries. It’s all there, and if you vote against that what the fuck do you think is going to happen? If you aren’t part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.

They’re saying that no one will make a law against a Republican, but Republicans may make laws against Democrats. Of course, that also won’t happen if it means the GOP can continue to score bitching points with their base while also profitting, but still.

Except that the damage it’s causing, just so someone can avoid reading a little, goes waaaay beyond a matter of opinion.

I do genuinely think AI is soulless and that alone is enough, but entirely separate of that its implementation is nothing but environment destroying, health fucking, brain sucking, garbage being used to spy on people. Despite them being a little out of wack and a terrible communicator, they do have a point. AI’s main selling point is centered around how it can make everyone more productive as if we actually need even more productivity. We’re all more than productive enough, AI is giving us nothing but unemployment(as those left are told to work harder), more climate destabilization, and reduced quality of life for every single living thing nearby a data centre.

Their first comment was also just plain bad, not gunna defend that at all. They seem kinda loopy.

You gotta work on your communication, I have zero clue what you’re trying to say. You start off heavily implying at AI is of a high quality, saying nothing else, and then go on about being pro-working class/pro person(I think?), but do it in a way that has holes in just the weirdest places.

You have the reading comprehension of a toddler. The article is not about a pair of glasses, it’s about a tech company’s response to AI and surveillance, and how another company is irresponsibly using those things.

In Canada, we have “centrists” that are really just fascists that don’t openly hate gay people. There is almost no difference between our current prime minister and the guy so many people were voting against. The stupid thing is that we have a proper progressive party.

My message to you is this: The conservatives know you’re scared and are using that. Their only tactic is to tell you that you need to vote against someone who is worse than them and then they get their power either way. It’s always “we can argue over the shade of blue once you put this specific shade of purple into power” and then nothing happens. The name-brand conservatives complain about them being woke, the “moderates” act like the problem is solved, and the left has to deal with both those idiots refusing to do any work.

If freedom is the ability to complain, lots of countries with stringer regulations have that. They have it but better, even, because they have a much greater ability to stop it going away.

I keep those power fantasies to my brain because I can tell the difference between a daydream and reality. I don’t care what AI could make me feel, I am never going to use it for anything if I’m aware of it.

I’m just certain you’re fully understanding this. Your original comment showed that your priority lay more with the technology than with the regulation which will keep us safe. It’s like you’re halfway there, and I don’t want to say I’m not acknowledging that, but much of this technology isn’t even really helping, and we keep supporting it as if we want it to be ready once we’ve gotten our acts together but all it’s doing is reinforcing the already disasterous power imbalances.

More productivity is not always a good thing. What you’re producing actually has to be good, and that’s what a LOT of people are missing. It’s like people saying that AI is great because “they” can “make” a picture really quickly, but they’ve completely side-stepped a major part of fucking existence and the meaning behind what it is to be a human being. Right now all this producitivity is ultimately going towards increased violence, hatred, and the destruction of the “pesky” working class so a few of the worst people can profit even more.

Ya know what’s crazy? A four-day work week has been proven to be more productive and cheaper without even paying anyone less. This has been the case for a long time, but we’re not doing it. It is something incredibly easy to implement and even at its worst it gives the same productivity AND a three-day weekend. It’s the easiest choice in the world and we aren’t making it. Productivity isn’t the point, it’s control and abuse.

Bro, we’re so much more productive in every way than we’ve ever been. Every year it’s another tool and more promises that if we all buy into this billionaire’s new toy we’ll never work again and every year it’s more of the same. The only thing that ever comes true is that the rich take more and return less. Our productivity has never resulted in fewer work hours for the same or more money. The best we got was a reduction in work hours that people fought died over.

You’re cheering on and funding a future that wants to erase you, not benefit you. You cannot build the future you claim will exist if you start with a rotten foundation which can’t even offer more a couple days sick leave if you’re lucky, and which treats human beings as tools for the enrichment of a select handful of lazy parasites. You’re gunna build your replacement and then, as has always happened, you’ll ask for your reward and they’ll show you the fuckin’ door. How many pieces of media show that same naivety right before the scientist who made the villain strong gets used as a punching bag so no one else will benefit? It’s a tale as old as time, a lesson we cannot seem to learn.

“She needs to be out doing good” and ya’ll seriously need to understand that for every halfway decent Dem poltician there are 30 horrible ones, and the people in charge have literally complained about the recent slight shift to the left. She’s not going to be doing good and even if she kept her mouth shut she wasn’t going to be doing anything good.

Here in Canada, a bunch of fuckheads voted against the Conservatives Party but instead of going all-in on the progressives they voted for the Liberal Party and we now have a hyper-conservative dickhead in charge whose only advantage over the other party is not openly hating minorities. They’re perfectly ok with keeping the status quo, though, which includes leaving thise people out to dry.

The US population needs to start making demands. No more voting against the most evil, they need to start voting FOR good.

The US government has:

1. Hired actual nazis,
2. Systematically attacked other nations to keep them out of the way of their private business,
3. Attacked and kidnapped the president of Venezuela for oil companies,
4. Mercilessly beaten down Cuba while many pharma leaders visit and take Cuban medical advancements back home,
5. And absolutely participated in a huge number of heinous shit I’m not even aware of.

And better pay? I mean, yea, but c’mon. The US is a dystopian nightmare dressed up in juuust enough personal comforts to keep most people from doing anything, and with so much of the country below the poverty line I would hardly call that a win. On the topic of artifical impacts to the cost labour, the governments of the US allow for all kinds of labour and human rights violations which keep people struggling and always playing catch-up.

Environmetal law is a huge nothing. How many people have been poisoned by US chemical companies, like 3M and Dupont, with barely any consequences handed out? The US doesn’t give a fuck about the environment and it never truly has. US-based oil companies release all kinds of highly doctored and misleading reports to try to greenwash their shitty behaviour while laughing behind closed doors(and sometimes out in the open).

I’m not going to say that China is a Utopia, or even decent by many standards, but if you think the US has anything to be proud of you need to sit down and shut up. Fuck the US.

It’s absolutely wild how many in the US and Canada are just completely politically ignorant.

The Cybertruck might actually look at least a little quirky if it wasn’t a massive piece of garbage sold by a massive piece of garbage. If you can’t have the conversation, don’t go after largely unrelated things because it’s just unproductive and will lead to people ultimately not trusting you to actually mean what you say(and they’d be right).
