That’s why I don’t really use them myself. I’m not willing to spread misinformation just because ChatGPT told me it was true, but I also have no interest in going back over every response and double checking that it’s not just making shit up.

Well, the primary thing is that you can ask extremely specific questions and get tailored responses.
That’s the best use case for LLMs, imo. It’s less of a replacement for a traditional encyclopedia- though people use it like that also- and more of a replacement for googling your question and getting a Reddit thread where someone explains.
The issue comes when people take everything it spits out as gospel, and do zero fact checking on it- basically the way that they hallucinate is the problem I have with it.
If there’s a chance it’s going to just flatly make things up, invent statistics, or just be entirely wrong… I’d rather just use a normal forum and ask a real person that probably has a clue whatever question I have. Or try to find where someone has already asked that question and got an answer.
This reads like one of the results on a personality quiz.

being a dick

People have different tastes? I find Superman incredibly uninteresting most of the time. I get why people like him, and if it floats their boat I’m happy for them but it ain’t for me.
Punisher is basically just “what if Batman had less of a moral code, and wasn’t a billionaire in his off time.” That’s got the potential to be an interesting character, even if it’s not for me personally.

Basically, the devs of Subnautica 1 were working on Subnautica 2 but got bought by another company- Krafton. Krafton promised a very large bonus to the lead devs assuming the game was released by a certain time. They were on track to meet that deadline, but Krafton was insisting the game be delayed and when the developers resisted that they got fired. Now the people that were fired are suing saying that Krafton fired them to avoid paying them the bonus rather than for cause.
I might have gotten some details wrong, I’m not following this incredibly closely myself.

Sim Daltonism
Seems like a very cool program. Sadly Mac OS/iOS exclusive so entirely useless to me lol.

Ukraine also supports this genocide
Can you source that? I’ve never seen any evidence of that, I’m gonna be real.
Also, the ‘imperial core’ is crazy lmao.

Not really- from my understanding the issue with the sex trafficking charges were that there wasn’t any explicit proof of the two women saying ‘no’, or being coerced into it. You’d have the exact same problem proving sexual assault.
It’s taller, but not as wide. An Alaska king is crazy. Way too much bed idk.

OP said they have an SSD as their boot drive, too, so that would explain why it’s not constantly going. I’m not sure why GPU usage would spike every time the noise happens, though.
Entirely possible it’s a fan bearing instead, but ime if a case fan is going bad you hear it 24/7. And since it’s not the GPU’s fan…

the noise I’m hearing is a more grind-y noise like a motorbike or propeller airplane that keeps going in and out
Do you have any HDDs? Because that sounds like a bad hdd.

The PRC has the political weight to make others pick a side, at least openly.
The DPRK, on the other hand, absolutely does not.
It depends some on where you are.
Where I live, driving is absolutely a basic skill. It’s just not realistic to get anywhere via any other means in a reasonable timespan. So you either have to drive or be driven basically anywhere. The scale involved isn’t kind to biking, and public transportation is nonexistent. It would take hours to get a taxi that would be egregiously expensive, uber isn’t even an option last I heard.
And this is from the perspective of someone that hates driving- it stresses me out because of the exact reasons you’ve mentioned. I’m in charge of a ton or more of plastic and steel sometimes moving at 70mph, and ignoring the physics based implications, these things are fucking expensive.

I’ve heard of them having newbie games scheduled on certain days. I don’t know how welcoming general games would be to a complete beginner, though.
I just limit how much news I get- basically just what pops up in my lemmy feed and a news show I watch a few times a week.
Being exposed to awful headlines 24/7 is almost definitely going to be rough on your mental health.

I don’t think you’re required to do it, personally, but I agree that it would be rude to not even hear someone out. Especially with someone you know even as an acquaintance. It could be anything from, “can you hold this for a second” to “do you mind splitting this $8000 timeshare with me?”
If it’s just a completely random person on the street, and their first word is “can you do me a favor” that’s different. I think it’s still rude, I just also think that when you engage with entirely random people being rude is acceptable sometimes. Especially if there’s an actual reason for you to feel unsafe- if you’re alone/it’s a shady area type thing.
This probably depends on the area, though. I’m from the southeastern US and from my understanding people engage with each other waaay more in public here than they do in- as a random example- New York.
TIL. Kinda cursed. Then again, lots of stuff about language is weird asf.

No. That doesn’t make you a bad person. Frankly, I think it’s awful that she’s asking you to, but I imagine she’s going through some things herself at the moment.
I think you have the right take here already- your relationship with your dad wasn’t the one impacted.
I actually have, it’s an extremely obscure Celtic god. I first heard of him in Smite, though.
