I think that is only an issue based on what Passkey attestation is configured by the relying party? From what I have read a lot of public facing companies implementing it will have passkey attestation statements configured as None, which typically means there isn’t an authenticator certificate verification.
They’re not really a thing where I’ve lived in the UK, at least I’ve not seen them in the 35+ years I’ve lived in the country! I wonder if climate change will affect that eventually?
Ah that’s fair! Yeah in the UK a lot of homes have casement windows where these things work great.
It may seem that way from a picture that it’s enough space for a cat to get out, but I’m telling you from experience it isn’t! Purely a recommendation based on myself having two house cats and using these on 6 different windows in my house, and a variety of friends having used them with their cats too.
I recommend getting some window restrictors rather than messing about with netting. There is a company called Beego that makes them, they are meant for kids but are perfect for cats too. I use them and recommended them to my friends with house cats, they use them now and it’s so much more convenient than using netting.

Where I work AI is being pushed hard, but the company has made it their policy that there must be a human in the loop. Ownership of the code written by AI is down to the person using the AI. “Oops, don’t know why the AI wrote that!” Is not a valid answer to bugs being introduced into production.
I’m seeing senior engineers of 15+ years no longer writing code and churning out a ton more work. They are disappointed they don’t write code anymore but working with the AI is the job they have to do to be able to afford to live. They say the cognitive load has shot up for them, they are constantly spinning plates.
To make the plate spinning job easier they have implemented guard rails to ensure the agents don’t do anything stupid. I’m seeing a number of stories posted to Lemmy where the AI does dumb shit but the stories don’t apply any accountability to the developers using it.
Can’t be expecting the peasants to share in the success of their hard work! Better to fire them and rehire them for cheaper when they are desperate.

Been on it for about 7 months now. I started taking it as I noticed thinning at the front, the crown was already thinning, but I can’t see it so I don’t care. I feel happier in my hair, I have less than I did when I was in my 20’s but it has stopped the loss and allowed for some recovery.
I really had to think hard about going on it. My family has a history of depression, and I’ve been able to escape it. My biggest worry is that it would trigger some kind of depression. I’ve not had any issues in this area thankfully!
My willy still functions perfectly too, so I’m not aware of any side effects, and I’ve seen hair retention and regrowth. The first couple of months I did experience some shedding, but it wasn’t bad. It’s satisfying seeing some little sprouts of hair reappear.

it is useful as a sort of better google, like for things that are documented but reading the documentation makes your head hurt so you can ask it to dumb it down to get the core concept and go from there
I agree with this point so much. I’m probably a real thicko, and being able to use it to explain concepts in a different way or provide analogies has been so helpful for my learning.
I hate the impact from use of AI, and I hope that we will see greater efficiencies in the near future so there is less resource consumption.
I’m not advocating for American chlorinated chicken, but I’m not sure our chicken is to a much higher standard. Over the last few years I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of our chicken from white striping to woody breast. I guess this is caused by them using breeds that grow quickly.
Not just the notes, but I feel like they put more effort into making sure the text doesn’t blend with what is on screen. Instances on Netflix of some shows where there will be white text with a white background, and the text has no drop shadow or black border.
I don’t know a great deal, but his stance on the Russia/Ukraine war concerns me.

When I originally saw this report on another source, the key standout for me was how many people were beaten by the AI, and the fact the winner was 5% ahead, which really is a small margin. It was being touted as “Yay we beat the AI!” without acknowledging that there were a lot of people that lost to it.
I joined Lemmy during the Reddit API change. It was pretty dead on Lemmy but communities were forming and I could have discussions with others, it felt promising. But sadly the reality now is it feels like Lemmy is becoming an echo chamber like Reddit was and conversations are stifled.
In addition to this some people immediately engage others in a negative way, where someone may be misinformed or misunderstood, and rather than offer knowledge or insight they are called fucking idiots.
It doesn’t feel like a community.
