  • Not all jobs are equal: not in pay, not in proximity to the people who actually carry out the orders of Leadership, not in consequences, not in collaboration with others.

For example, Biden has the authority to stop the transfer of arms to Israel, even after Congress has approved of it. That decision would have much greater impacts on Israel’s ability to carry out their genocide on the Palestinian people.

A McDonald’s manager has no say in weather those arms make it to Israel or not.

Different positions call for different levels of ethical consideration. Maybe the United Healthcare CEO should have considered ethics and morals more when he decided to prioritize profit over human lives.

Consequently, you could also make the same diagnosis for Biden because this whole Israel thing is nuking his legacy.

  • The great Reddit migration when 3rd party devs realized how much Reddit would charge them to use Reddit’s API in order to serve information to their apps. RiF was my shit.

I love Lemmy now though. Its federated nature, while abnormal and at times not the easiest to explain, has me hopeful for the cyberspace future that isn’t fully dictated by corporations. Using Fdroid, getting over the hump from Chrome to Firefox, and now the prospects of switching entire OSs from Windows to Linux are within my visibility now, when before I was comfortable in my corporate bubble.

Think the next thing I need to start taking strides on after Linux is privacy. I still keep my passwords locked under OneDrive Vault and a password protected OneNote. Should probably dump that and move over to keypass or some other password manager. I just don’t want to have to pay for a service right now on a recurring basis unless I choose to to support the devs.

  • Someone can be democratically elected, yet then act to undermine those same democratic processes that got them there.

Netanyahu continues his ruthless conquest against Palestinians and Lebanese despite how unpopular it is with Israelis. He knows that he won’t get re-elected, and when he doesn’t he’ll have to face the consequences of his actions in international court.

All you’re doing with your comment is aiding and abetting a fascist, apartheid, genocidal regime. Get real.

  • Negative señor. The most important issue for voters this past election was the economy. People don’t feel like anything has changed since 2020. So, if the current administration isn’t helping, maybe a different one will.

That sentiment is the reason why Kamala gained so much traction after Biden dropped out, and also the same reason why she lost that traction when she attached herself to Biden’s administration or policies rather than breaking away.

The Democrats have consistently failed to represent their base since Obama won in 2008. Hell, you could make the argument that they haven’t represented their base since before Clinton.

But sure let’s keep blaming the voters for rejecting a party that doesn’t represent them, and not holding the party accountable by continuing to vote them into power since our votes are a given as the Dems move right.

Your stance is basically to shut voters up and let them take it up the ass, whether they want that or not.

    L take

  • Exactly. Democrats failed to end the genocide in Gaza because they didn’t create a partisan line in the sand to separate the State’s current bipartisan stance towards Israel.

Most Americans support ending the way in Gaza. Kamala should have run with this right out of the gate, breaking away from Biden and cutting any strings she has with him. The reason why Americans and donors pressured Biden to drop out is the same reason why Kamala lost. Both represented more of the same, and that voters felt like the current administration wasn’t hearing their voices.

So out of spite or piss poor messaging on the Dems’ side, people chose Trump instead.

This is absolutely an issue with establishment Democrats. Don’t get discouraged from sharing this idea in a post not having to do with Bernie Sanders or AOC. It’s the truth.
