yeah i upvoted despite that piece of infommation and was going to come back later because the core truth remains: they only ever do the right thing for customers when forced

that’s not what anywhere is reporting, where are you seeing that?

right now for android i recommend ironfox

yeah. i’m fully willing to believe a bunch of these tech ceos are neurodivergent as they claim. HOWEVER. we all know neurodivergent people who don’t weaponize their neurodivergence to justify eugenics, mass surveillance, or just plain being shitty to people. we don’t have to respect your autism excuse when you do something shitty and then ask you why you did that.

so die off the exact same way netscape did, in the process learning absolutely nothing

people been saying how we as a society measure browser usage is all wrong. i’ve thrown up my hands at this point. the people with the most to gain from correcting this systemic failure, mozilla, have fully committed to sacrificing everything that made themselves valuable. i will continue to use the outcome of their work, at least in part, via zen at work and librewolf at home. as they continue to chase a market that isn’t there—people who don’t want to use a browser with the problems of chrome, but with all the problems of chrome—maybe at some point they’ll realize that they are wasting time and resources on a lost cause and dedicate themselves to some other course of action. but at this point i have more hope that zen and librewolf contributors will fork gecko, switch to goana, or servo will grow into something than that mozilla will ever get their shit together.
ipad requests desktop sites and so displays in desktop user agents

me and my wife have this dynamic. i’m from southern appalachia and she cannot understand the shanendoah or allegheny accent at all. if i say something particularly idiomatic she’ll ask me what i mean because our verb syntaxes carry a little extra information AND we have tonals

the regulations on intensity never presumed we’d use such small arrays to produce that intesity. in the cabin, the lights projected onto the road don’t seem that different from 20 years ago. but from the other way it’s dazzling

my c posts in my 2020 car are so big that i frequently have no idea there’s a pedestrian right in front of me about to enter a crossing. it stresses me out

a company has no moral guiding principals outside of monetary gain. its board of directors members may have their own individual viewpoints, but as a collective, a corporation is representative only of the shareholder’s shared interest in making some money. if they wanted anything else, they would collectivize into another form.
generally speaking the best, i mean the best, you can expect from a BoD member is liberalism and all that entails. from a liberal perspective, pacifism is a virtue to be signaled, not an overall approach to the world with a goal of bringing about a just and fair society. liberals preaching non-violence don’t really care if someone is preaching violence so long as they don’t practice violence and the results of the preaching of violence remain unseen.
that’s how you wind up with liberals saying that the founder of turning point usa did things the right way and denouncing someone doing exactly the things he said were good to do, but moreover, denouncing people who have trained in violence accessing that violence in self defense. in the fight between fascism and anything other than fascism, violence must be used to denounce fascism because it is the only language fascists speak. you can use non-violence to interact with other political positions. those are positions who do not practice solely violence. but fascism believes access to violence grants license to use that violence. you can only counter this belief by rendering it scared to show itself in public

go open youtube in a private tab and see how long it takes for an innocuous video to get a recommended video from the manosphere, rightwingtube, or magaworld. youtube pushes nazi shit hard. if they’re not pushing it on you, it usually means their mathematical model for determining who right wing propaganda works best on indicates you’re not a good target, in which case they’ll mostly push meaningless drivel.
youtube and youtube culture have been dying a right wing nazi death for a decade now. all the best things people were doing are on patreon and nebula now

CoMaps is GOATed. i need to make some edits in my neighborhood

what’s google got to do with it? this is an article about a product develeped at GitHub (now a microsoft subsidiary) causing problems with Windows and the thumbnail is showing produts from the following companies:
like. look. i hate google. they partner with israel to conduct genocide (don’t use waze, btw, or better yet, don’t use any google products). but this seems like not looking at the whole of how evil all of big tech is just to focus on how evil one company in big tech is

“unused ram is wasted ram”
yeah yeah yeah, great. but all you motherfuckers did that and i’m fucking out of ram.

not… sure how i’m fanboing for android here when i’m saying that both google and apple are complicit in genocide and you should, if you can, do business with neither

oracle

pay particular attention to the invasive telemetry section. this isn’t by accident. ios promises to respect your privacy in its advertising, and does a better job than stock android, but the fact remains that the company is subservient to the states it partners with, one of which is the United States, which has close ties to israel. if your plan is to use your phone with whatever os it comes with, the iphone is more secure. but for a military force like the IDF, they can dictate and even issue whatever would be the most secure. the fact that they do not means these considerations are seen as a positive
i think often about that GM and Volvo paid Virginia Tech a lot of money to help them design a safe touchscreen infotainment center and after years of research the researchers basically reached the conclusion “there’s no safe way to put a touchscreen in a car” and now we all have touchscreens in our cars
