The crazy thing is, for me as a user that has beta tested in the past, I’m at like 10/20. 50% of the time I get a response … no idea why I’m clearly higher than anyone else I’ve read/heard complaining about it. I don’t write verbose, I give them just enough info, logs every time … no idea why it works.
Elon famously made the decision to cut lidar and replace with cameras instead.
Ostrich. Easily the best game meat. It’s incredible.
2021 from a small local home builder. Much better quality (even for a COVID build) than the Oakwood garbage that’s in the rest of the neighborhood and much better insulated than an older home.
So, if both American and Dutch parents value independence, why do Dutch kids seem so much happier? I wonder if the key difference lies in how both sets of parents understand what freedom for kids looks like.
“Dutch parenting is all about raising self-sufficient kids,” Tracy told me. “My older two (ages 12 and 14) bike more than 10 kilometers (6 miles) daily to school since there are no school buses.
“If a teacher cancels a class, students just have free time instead of a substitute. My 14-year-old had two canceled classes this morning and simply stayed home until noon. This would be a logistical nightmare for schools and parents if we didn’t just expect our kids to sort it out.”
Dutch parenting, according to the close to a dozen parents in the Netherlands I spoke with, emphasizes allowing children a freedom of movement that many American kids don’t have. When I was in Haarlem and Amsterdam, bikes and little kids on bikes were everywhere.
Good article. We moved to an open concept neighborhood (low open fences, not “privacy” style) and the kids have a lot of movement around the neighborhood since it’s safe, and it has a lot of trails, wide sidewalks, and bike lanes. Yes, it’s more affluent. They’ve definitely been a lot happier than our last house where privacy fences were everywhere. They made friends a lot faster and seem to know everyone.
Finally some sanity in here.
It’s always about the money. Everyone else yelling about them spying, they’ll only do that if it makes them more money.
Same. I won’t tolerate pop ups. We didn’t when the internet was new and I sure won’t when watching a show I’M PAYING TO WATCH.
His name is Alan Dye (and team).
It really does come down to this. They would be outright screwed.
While many of my family members have served in the past and do now, the US is not the end all, be all.

Oh yeah. Totally testing this even though wipr is great already.
^ this. All of it. It’s death by a thousands cuts and just shows the incredible amount of greed they have (not shareholder value, it’s bloody greed).
As an interview I always ask, “why here? I mean other than to pay your bills, you didn’t apply to a charity.” Always gets a laugh and then they generally give me an honest, decent reason.
We never ask to hear, “because bills.” We aren’t as stupid as you think we are. Some people actually nail this question, others don’t attempt. You can’t try? Why the hell do you think you’d be a good fit? I can hire more motivated people that will do better in the long run.
Interviewing is a skill like any other. Some people are great at it, others suck because they don’t understand what it’s for. Most fall in the later category since they miss the point entirely.
Interviews are for fit a lot of times. I get plenty of candidates. I want someone who will 1) fit the team and 2) jive with me as a manager. Not everyone can fulfill those 2 main requirements. The skills come secondary honestly.
Understand that most of the answers you’re going to get on Lemmy are self righteous. “There is no meaning of life.” As if they can also know there isn’t. I encourage you to look at the philosophy of this question over the ages and how others have answered it. You won’t find many other thoughts on it here since they believe that if you can’t see it, it’s not true. We know so little in all of existence that it’s incredibly arrogant to think we can answer this with any certainty.
