Thank you all for the advice. I’ve made a decision and I’m going to be moving to the city. My dad is in relatively good health right now so I think we can manage. Again, thank you all. I really appreciate it

They’re working on it. I think maybe something may happen with it by the end of this month? And don’t worry, I know I’m burning myself to warm them. I’m trying to fix that a bit. No, it’s not me that’s the target. The condition is straining all of our emotions and things are just in general not as happy anymore.
I’ve been living with my parents for almost 2 years now after graduating from university. Now, I have a job that pays me just enough to live off of and I’ve been wanting to move back to the city where I lived for University. But, my situation is as follows that prevents me from doing so. My dad has a condition, one of the worst conditions you can get, you can probably guess what it is and please don’t say what it is because I don’t like the word. Because of this, my dad can no longer work, and my mom has been trying to find work so I’m taking care of things. And, because of this condition, home life isn’t as great as it used to be and my mental health has deteriorated to nearly nothing. I don’t know what to do and how to get everything back to normal. I’ve been looking for apartments but how can I leave in good consciousness knowing what I’m leaving? I’m stuck and I cannot move literally and figuratively.
Having to pay for EVERYTHING! Want to not live outside? Gotta pay rent. Want water? Gotta pay the water company. Want to eat? Gotta buy food. Want to go somewhere? Got to pay for vehicle insurance.
I keep telling my friend that we’re heading to the Cyberpunk society without the cool cybernetics. Hell, Nestle tried to privatise water which FALLS FROM THE SKY.
Well, for someone like me who had no inkling of programming skill until I forced myself to learn, let me tell you it was HARD. Everything about my game was a learning process but I took that as a challenge to improve myself and make myself more adaptable for future projects.
To give you basically a rundown of how I’m making my game is I first started with an idea. I liked playing Paper Mario and Super Smash Bros so I decided on gameplay similar to those two. Then, I chose Unity based on a recommendation from a teacher. As I learned coding through YouTube tutorials and asking questions on forums, I started with a simple script to control a tic tac that runs around a quick map I made with primitive shapes. And from that initial prototype I added more and more things. Different mechanics, quests, etc. For art, I’m making most of it on my own since I’m an artist first thing but most I’m getting from free sites like turbo squid or the Unity Asset Store. Music and sounds I’m using temp stuff until I can get to making them.
For myself, even making a simple mechanic of controlling your cat to explore an environment is a game. Sure, it might not be GTA quality, but it’s still a game. From here you can make something more interesting. I always say that in order for something to look beautiful, first it has to look ugly. Even a beautiful butterfly has to start as a worm.
I’m on the cusp of the change between Gen Z and Millennial and I’m with you in this. When I graduated college and got my bachelor’s, I envisioned a life where I’d live in a big city, go do some interesting work, and in my off time I’d be able to finally afford to travel. Explore the world. Meet interesting people and do interesting things. But, I was quickly humbled.
I had to fight, I mean literally FIGHT for my current job for a year. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get one since I had no experience and no one wants a college graduate. Now that I have one, I sit about 6 to 7 hours a day in front of a computer. I’m having lower back problems and the lack of exercise is giving me gut problems. I can’t afford to live my own so I can forget about traveling. And, now, my contract is nearing its end so I might not even have a job soon.
This was the world we were handed and, now that I’ve experienced it, I’m looking forward to the day everything goes haywire and we start all over again.
I use this dns.adguard-dns.com as a private DNS provider for my Samsung phone which basically blocks everything for me. Even apps. As for YouTube, I use revanced so I basically never see ads on my phone at all
Everytime I get a meal with vegetables I eat that first no matter what else is on the plate. I think of it working my way to the best part of the meal
I think something this momental would make it so that the world won’t allow us to forget even if the news does. Think about it. Imagine the fallout that would follow finding out that we’re not alone in the universe, that there’s something out there way smarter than us and have been in contact with our government. How did contact the government? How long have they been in contact? Are they here already? People would probably go a little bit crazy initially. Doomsday peppers would stock up, like what happened during covid, religious fanatics would probably go haywire because what if aliens had something to do with shaping religion? Then there’s the scientific stuff. How are they comminicating? How can the government keep contact? There’d probably be people calling the government into question because how can they hide something so momental from is for however long they have? Then the other governments of the world to. What would they say? Would they be contact to? Would they start fighting because they’re not in contact and want to be? I think the world would go crazy enough that’d we’d feel the effects for a while and definately longer than until Halloween.
The craziest story I have is how close I got to becoming part of a crazy story. It’s odd now that I think about how my life seems to be censored. Back in high school I was part of a group of friends that would go out on the outskirts of my small hometown to play paintball. We’d play almost every weekend and I’d join them everytime. But, one weekend I didn’t join because I think I had a cold or I was working or something. But, that one time I didn’t join someone called the cops claiming that they were hearing gunshots going off. Someone called the cops on a bunch of high school kids and thus the cops showed up sporting shotguns and pistols. My friends had guns pulled on them. Luckily, the cops quickly realized what they were doing and left without any more trouble.
That was the one and only time I’ve almost experienced something even remotely crazy. That was maybe 8 or more years ago.
The first game I remember playing was, I think Paper Mario on the n64. But, I knew I had an n64 way before my first memory so I don’t know what exactly my first game was.
Same day as my birthday
Aw, I was gonna make that joke
Seasoning salt
Talking without making myself look stupid
I’m a storyboard artist/3d generalist and I’m working towards my dream of one day developing my own cartoon or video game. I’d love to be a showrunner or game director and this is one of the ways I believe I’d be able to get there!
A few of my favorite songs are Love You by Idenline, Sacrificial by Rezz, Over You by Flume, Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones, and Walk by Pantera.
Did you know that for the music in 2016s Doom they used an actual chainsaw as a sound one of the songs (https://www.reddit.com/r/Doom/comments/5i51ov/til_mick_gordon_pitchshifted_a_sample_of_a/)
Best meal I’ve ever had was a BBQ burger in New York. I can’t quite remember the restaurant since thus was back in high school but I’ve never tasted something as good as that since.
Best place I’ve ever visited was Banff in BC, Canada. I went with a lot of friends and to this day I still cherish those memories of walking around the town, having ice cream, and just having fun.
How paranoid apple is with everything requiring a password, a two factor authentication, push notifications, etc. And the lack of customization without having to jailbreak or go through an insane amount of menus.
Some websites say I’m a Gen Z while others say I’m a millennial. So a bit of both
The company that lost my $3500 computer a month ago finally sent off a free replacement and it’ll be here next week! Normally, they replace it with a refurbished one but since they don’t have any, I’m getting a new one.
