Yes, because he can do anything he wants and just declare legal.
There is no punishment for this supervillain. His cult makes sure of that.

The point is that torturing animals is something that we probably shouldn’t recommend.
It is yanking a water animal by their mouth into an environment they cannot breathe. And if memory serves, fish have a lot of nerves in their mouths so that hurts a LOT, and even released ones have a reduced survival rate.
That “fun and wholesome” activity causes a lot of pain and stress to the victims, so it’s kinder to recommend something less cruel. Like birdwatching and photography.
I can only speak for myself, but as someone who before 2020 didn’t care at all to get involved in politics (aka voting), hearing about this literal meme causing real problems for real people all the damn time certainly did get me to vote.
Twice, now. When previously I couldn’t be bothered.
This man is so terrible that he’s gotten me to vote just to do my part in making sure he stays the fuck out of office.
I am not a politically-minded person. All these names and legalese questions and policies confuse and bore me.
I voted for Harris yesterday. If I can gather the willpower to vote Harris and help a prosecutor stop a felon from becoming a king, all of you other not-normally-voter types can do it.
We can do it, people!
Without any studies as backing, my best guess is “Dogs have owners, cats have servents”.
Alternatively: Dog thinks ‘Human gives me food and cleans my poop. Human must be a god!’. Cat thinks ‘Human gives me food and cleans my poop. I must be a god!’
And apparently cats have us psychologically hacked to adore them in multiple ways. Like how their purr is helpful for human stress relief.
Tl;dr I think it’s because cats own you back, and a narcissist would have an easy time hating them for that.
Until there’s no one below them to keep the air conditioning working.
I’m shocked. Shocked, I tell you!
Well not that shocked.
Don’t worry, nothing will be done. Bacon and nuggies are more important to people than the world their children inherit.
I gave you some from a girl to help balance things out!
But I can promise you, from many years net positive on reddit and a not disimilar result here, that you’re not reading your own tone.
Be mindful of the tone, only come off as combative against a near universally disliked topic, and know when you don’t care to curate yourself and are ready for the downvotes.
Your wording here makes you out to be combative, and people are combative in response. Read your own comments as if they’re directed AT you. And look specifically at what’s likely to make you want to argue back. You may even be surprised at what can get net positive response with the right wording.
I feel like the difference with Threads is Meta is owned by a much larger threat that can’t be trusted not to use Embrace Extend Extinguish in some evil genius way that ends up working.
Reddit’s owned by some dummy that did a lot of damage to his own platform but isn’t known to be smart enough or have the resources to threaten the fediverse.
I came to Lemmy because I disliked what Steve Huffman did to reddit.
I’d be completely fine with the users being here. I do miss the whole active community for every niche little thing part. If if federates that’d be neat.
It won’t, since greedy Steve Huffman can’t sell the fediverse to Google while screwing 3rd party devs and users that make it what it is. But I’d welcome it.
This is what I use. Good to hear it’s not depreciated on more modern versions of the OS that my ol’ 6S Plus isn’t able to run.
Was on Voyager until it updated past my old OS. Current version of Voyager no longer supports my old 6S Plus.
So now I’m on Thunder. It works. I liked Voyager better, but I won’t complain about an app that still works on my phone.
No kids. They’re a huge, life long commitment that you need to be willing to sacrifice everything for. Your happiness, your sanity, your time, your money… everything.
And I’m not the type of person who wants kids nearly enough to do that.
Especially when people tell me that I should for reasons like having a caretaker when I’m older. I’m not attached to my parents enough to do that. Why would I expect that of anything I pop out? And what a horrible selfish reason to make a new human that is!
If the only reason I’d be having a kid is selfish reasons in the distant future that aren’t even a guarantee, then that’s not worth sacrificing myself for right now.
Nothing against other people who want to be parents, so long as they’re prepared and not doing it as some sort of life insurance or to make a clone of themselves.
ITT people not recognizing that there’s a difference between comparing and equating.
People, it’s possible to make analogies to more serious situations without saying the two things are equal. The statement above is saying it’s there’s a shared mentality, not a shared level of consequence/seriousness.
There are too many damn love songs. 75% of all music does not need to be about love, relationships, and breakups. I stopped listening to radio because all the damn love songs got annoying.
Can we please have more songs about literally anything else. Weed, flowers, rainy days, animal companions, construction work, types of cars, card games, anything. There’s more in life to sing about than just relationships and/or the lack of them!
Sincerely, A person whose sexuality is “No” and has no interest in that kind of relationship.
Vegans simply existing make people feel uncomfortable, so defense mechanisms in the brain trigger.
Since it’s an ethical stance, and people at least deep down know that killing innocent animals for 5 minutes of taste pleasure is wrong, but they don’t want to change themselves.
So the brain tries to rationalize how it’s definitely not wrong and really the vegan is wrong, and/or demonize the position to shield itself from the discomfort of knowing.
Basically psychological defenses kick in to defend unethical behavior that someone highlights by simply existing.
More of an observation on a generational shift. A culture change with a language change coming with it.
I used to use Reddit every day. I just replaced Reddit time with Lemmy and YouTube.
If YouTube goes down… I’ll live. It’s not a life support thing like income or housing so I’ll just find other things to fill the hole.
Will it suck? Sure. Will I live? Yep. I’d prefer they put out a reasonably affordable subscription instead of just nuking themselves with ads and more enshittification, but it’s not like life itself depends on YouTube.
Their current subscription is too pricey. At least last I looked.
They can get some of my money if they put out a sufficiently lower priced option. I paid for Reddit premium and used none of the features I just liked the site before Steve Huffman decided to be super extra shitty. I’d do the same for YouTube.
Individual instances and frontends might have something to do with it. People saying they see a ton of NSFW and have to block so many communities, but at sh.itjust.works on Voyager I haven’t seen any of that.
It’s simultaneously open yet curated at the same time and that’s pretty neat!
That’s implying that fishing is a great activity. That is about as okay as saying it’s okay that people chose not to vote.
I did not state it in a mean way, I simply said it in a way that says please do not encourage animal abuse.
I do not think it’s a good thing to encourage animal abuse, and I don’t think good people should be encouraged to continue normalizing it.
Please don’t ask people to stay silent about cruelty. That’s helps keep it normalized.
