Everyday that I look at the feed I am reminded of the old /r/theonion + /r/nottheonion feed I used to love back in the day. The guessing game got less fun when it took over all the news.

These are the same shit stains that refer to legal immigrants and refugees as criminal illegals. The ones that condemn the idea of politicized prosecutions and claim no one is above the law while pursuing politicized prosecutions of people for daring to hold Trump accountable and not treating him as entirely above the law. These are the ones touting transparency while cracking down on whistle-blowers.

I could go on all day with this. Everything they say is in bad faith. They don’t care about being right, they just want to throw out soundbites to be repeated by propaganda outlets. Illegal orders are lawful. Following the constitution is seditious. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. There are five lights. The Star Wars sequels are just as good.

And the fact that they know they must lie is all the more damning.

As long there isn’t one of those fucking wind farms out there wrecking the environment and giving whales autism, right?

To achieve the status of measles elimination, a country must have no ongoing local transmission of the disease for at least one year. It will lose that status if it has a chain of cases that spread from person to person for more than one year.

We’ve been heading in that direction, but we won’t have officially lost our measles-free status until the current outbreak has continued for a full year.

They got Thune to promise a separate vote in the senate on the ACA credits, probably in December. Even if that passed in the senate, Johnson won’t schedule a vote on it in the house. And if by some miracle it passed the house, Trump would just veto it.

It’s nothing. It’s absolutely nothing. At most they got Republicans to vote against ACA credits specifically, which is nothing compared to other shit they’ve already voted on, and will be far less effective than letting them take the heat for the shut down. The fact that they were willing to prolong the shut down just to kill the ACA credits says a lot more than a simple vote would.

Ordering a lot for yourself doesn’t necessarily mean eating it all at once. Leftovers are good too.

That said, there was a time when I worked in a pizza place that sold by the slice. I had to predict what we’d sell 10 minutes in advance without creating too much waste or leaving customers waiting. Sometimes fat people would come in, order way too much, complain about needing to wait for more, and generally making my day worse. I realized I was starting to resent fat people and it was adding to my already miserable mental state working that shitty job. So whenever it came up I started playing baby elephant walk in my head, and I wasn’t so resentful anymore.

For deliveries, the only customers I judged were the ones who treated us like shit, lied to get free stuff, or who were terrible tippers despite clearly having the money.

Noticed some anti-voting accounts pop back up this week after being dormant since last November. Must have gotten spooked by the election results on Tuesday and want to get a head start on trying to suppress turnout for next year.

Any deal that doesn’t put everything in one bill is worthless.

Let’s pretend for one moment that Republicans actually joined Democrats in passing the extension of ACA credits and any other concessions they got in the negotiations. Even if they passed the bill, Trump can just veto it. As long as he gets what he needs in a separate bill, he can veto anything else. And if there’s enough support for the compromise to overturn a veto, there’s enough to prevent it by passing it all as one bill.

But I’m sure Schumer will happily explain how Republicans voting against the ACA credits will be on their permanent record and how that will make this all worthwhile.

How long before the announcement that they are awarding one of their billionaire buddies with a no bid contract to replace air traffic control with an LLM based system?

In this case, the order for the DoJ was about discovery relating to a motion to dismiss based on vindictive prosecution. If they fail to comply with the discovery process, the judge can simply grant the motion to dismiss.

Overidding his own administration after they agreed that that they can and will do the thing. Fighting in court to avoid doing the thing. Defying a court order to do the thing. All while blaming the democrats for his not doing of the thing.

Particularly noteworthy here is the way the 5-7% who are “unsure” in all previous polls have disappeared in the past few months.

Not enough to keep them out of the Whitehouse.

Impeachment requires 2/3 of the senate voting to convict. The only way that will happen is for one party to have 67 senate seats, or for members of both parties to vote to convict.

For the Dems to get to 67 senate seats in the next midterm election would require winning every single race, The odds of that are just slightly more than 0, you’d be better off playing the lottery.

It’s slightly less implausible that the Democrats could win most of the seats up for election in a large backlash against Trump and the Republicans, and that in that scenario you could get the remaining votes from Republicans who view the Trump administration as a sinking ship that they don’t want to go down with. Trump’s second impeachment was as close as we’ve seen to that kind of scenario.

Even then, it’s a lot easier to imagine Republicans going along with an impeachment of Trump (who will almost certainly be gone soon anyway) than it is for them to remove members of the Supreme Court whose positions could affect the balance of power for decades. About the only way I can see it happening (even in this extreme scenario) is if they went after Thomas and/or Alito, because they are the oldest members currently on the court and that would give Trump the opportunity to appoint two new justices.

So, realistically, any (legal) accountability is at least two elections away. And even then, it’s more plausible that it would come from a new administration pursuing criminal charges against the fascists and their enablers than it would be through impeachment.
