Took me a while to warm up to it, but after using it for months now, every time I try another color scheme I go back to the lovely Catppuccin lol

15·3 months agoHell yeag! If China manages to at least put pressure on Nvidia and AMD it would already be great.
You’re shifting the blame to individuals. Gacha games and gacha mechanics are gambling and should be banned.
Skimming through this post, people actually believe in IQ?
IQ is not a good measurement of intelligence. It is at best one single measurement of pattern recognition, and it is not set in stone either, as you can get better or worse at it.
There’s multiple types of intelligence it doesn’t measure and honestly, I don’t believe anyone should take it serious.

9·7 months agoHey, I appreciate the disclaimer at the top, it shows you care about this stuff, which is already a pretty good step.
Other comrades already provided you with links about Tiananmen Square. The only other two I can link here are this video debunking the western narrative by Hakim and this article about the Arab league’s conclusion after investigating Xinjiang.
With all that said, I think your conclusion is wrong. You are completely right when you say that media outlets and most of the internet are owned up by a handful of billionaires that control the narrative in their favor, including YouTube. But that doesn’t mean everything produced on these outlets are lies or wrong. On YouTube for example, despite the clear disadvantage, there are communists there subverting the machine to educate people on these issues you are speaking about.
Furthermore, your vision of China comes from these same media outlets you already rightfully criticized. I invite you to rethink what you have been told about China, and any other current socialist countries for that matter, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos and DPRK.
You can lurk or ask around on Lemmygrad if you’re curious and want to learn further about that.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why aren’t any government making wealth inequality and property supply focused policies?
21·7 months agoThat is bullshit. If you are refering to Tiananmen Square, then I highly recommend you watch the channel Felipe Durante on YouTube. He’s a Brazilian living in China and he have talked about it several times, and even talks about how his colleagues talk about it.
This idea that China is some sort of dystopian hell where you cannot talk about this stuff is just a western lie.

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•"Core of American Freedom Propaganda" - Soviet Poster, 1973
13·9 months agoYou plugging your ears and yapping is not the own you think it is. You clearly know nothing of the Soviet Union nor of the Gulags, and instead of actually engaging in good faith you just dismiss everyone as evil tankies.
Either provide proof of your claims or have the humility of listening to those that clearly know better than you.
To dismiss all the advancements in the USSR and to equate them to the Nazis is beyond baffling, it’s disgusting, it’s ahistorical, and spits in the face of the people that actually defeated Nazism.
Bazzite is great. I was using Nobara before it, and Solus before that and Bazzite has been the best experience I ever had on Linux, I don’t plan on changing distros as long as it remains a thing.

Linux@lemmy.ml•More game devs should be like the devs of Marvel Rivals when it comes to emulationEnglish
2·10 months agoIt was the fucking people in China making the comparison! Come on. You keep ignoring this in order to just say westerners are evil.
Ignoring? I literally addressed that in my previous comment. I’m not gonna repeat myself. And I’m not saying westerners are evil. As much as I hate using these moral terms like good, bad and evil, if I were to use it it would be to say that the west is evil, not the westerners.
Clean, meaning morally, no he isn’t. Kind, not so much. He presents as if he’s a perfect story book character, like Pooh Bear (hence the comparison), but he wouldn’t still be in power if this were the case.
Yeah yeah, keep changing the meaning of words to only fit how you see it on your head. And really? He’s still in power because he presents himself as “clean and kind”? Like, really? First you say he’s a dictator, now he’s only still in power because se presents himself well. Which one is it? And that aside, do you really believe he’s only in power because he presents himself well? Like, really?
The people in China recognize this, which is why they started the comparison. It spread to the west because of the outsized response to it.
A single meme is not representative of the will of the Chinese people. By this logic I can say the USians are nazi because of how much Pepe exploded in popularity. It’s beyond silly.
It was funny how insulted he was by this that it started being banned, so it spread because his fragile ego couldn’t handle it.
First of all, Winnie the Pooh was never banned in China, it is still a very popular character there.
Second of all, you lack understanding of how Chinese society works. China, and some other asian countries do not simply speak ill of their leaders and representatives. It’s a cultural thing. Which is not to say that they don’t criticize them, they do, but it is completely different than the rest of the world.
And finally third, if people started representing Obama with the image of a gorilla, let’s say, from Tarzan. Wouldn’t that be racist? Wouldn’t that be censored and ban worth in most places? So stop with the double standard bullshit. Just realize you’re racist against asians and do some introspection.
For everything else you said I already have replied previously.
You’re incredibly unserious and I’m not losing my time engaging with you any further.

Linux@lemmy.ml•More game devs should be like the devs of Marvel Rivals when it comes to emulationEnglish
31·10 months agoProve it? Sure. It’s a system where the singular ruling party controls elections and all candidates must be approved by them. If that’s not a dictatorship then I’ve never heard of one.
A single party system is not inherently undemocratic, we communists believe in democratic centralism. The CPC is the dominant party in China, but there are multiple other parties in the country.
You can argue it provides utility or stability or something if you want, but arguing it isn’t a dictatorship shows how ignorant you are. Of course it’s exactly what I’d expect though.
No, it shows how ignorant YOU are, since you clearly don’t even understand how different political systems can be democratic. Your vision of democracy is limited and is easily dismantled by showing how in the US, for example, you have basically a two-party system that at the end of the day serves the same purpose, to continue to impose the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie upon the working class, or how you libs call it, “western democracy”. Your lack of class analysis in China’s system fails to account for how the CPC represents the proletariat instead of the bourgeoisie and how that completely changes the inner functions of said country and society.
I don’t know how the west doing anything bad is relevant to this conversation. It was never part of the discussion and is purely a red-herring to distract from your bad faith argument.
You can’t be serious, right? You can’t simply point fingers at a country with a bunch of false claims and not expect a direct comparison with how the rest of the world does stuff to dismantle the argument. The implication in this discussion is that China and the CPC is a bad evil dictatorship that oppresses people and curbs their freedom of speech. By pointing out how the west does things I’m providing a counter argument of the false claims. You can’t simply claim a bunch of stuff in a vacuum without directly comparing with how the it in the rest of the world, it’s disingenuous. Do you not understand how arguments work?
Also, once again, the Pooh Bear thing is from China. It isn’t racist. It has nothing to do with race. Prove it is, since you’re asking for proof of basic stuff we all know.
Oh stop playing dumb. You know very well that it is racist to associate a Chinese person with a yellow character. Also, it doesn’t matter where it comes from. Pepe and the Ok sign didn’t start as hate symbols, both were turned into one. If you can’t see how westerners constantly calling and depicting Xi Jinping as Pooh isn’t racist, then you’re the racist.
It’s making fun of him being fat and the way he presents himself as clean and kind.
Oh so according to you it’s not racist, it’s just fatphobic AND racist since by saying he “presents clean and kind” you’re implying he is neither of those things. Definitely not racist to imply that a Chinese person is unclean and unkind. Fuck off.

85·10 months agoCriticizing or making fun of a nations leader is not racist. In fact, the comparison originates from China.
Then go ahead, actually criticize Xi instead of associating him with a yellow bear, which is definitely not racist, no no no, not racist at all.
You’ll just go back to your echo chamber where anything critical of dictators is bad and must come from the west. They’ll probably agree with you, despite it being incredibly easy to learn more.
LMAO, then fucking prove China is a “dictatorship”. You libs keep repeating the same “China bad”, EBIL SEESEEPEE with zero self awareness of how the west is actually looting, underdeveloping and actively destroying the rest of the world.

1212·10 months agoNot sure why you were downvoted, you are correct. You can’t even say “Winnie the Pooh”.
Censoring westerners that keep being racist is good actually.
NetEase is the developer of Marvel Rivals. They are a huge Chinese based company, they have ties to the CCP.
The CPC keeps a close eye on the companies in China. This is not a bad thing like you are framing. If you wanna point out to a real problematic case then point at Call Of Duty for being a military propaganda tool.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can anyone help me understand why Hasan Piker is so popular in leftist political spaces despite his immense privilege?English
1·11 months agoI totally get your frustration. Any leftist person, group or organization that ostracize people for being a little bit better materially than other people is completely wrong and shouldn’t be taken seriously. The tech field is full of techbro ancaps, having a leftists there is already a step forward. We can’t just confine ourselves to a few spaces and gatekeep who can and who cannot be a part of it.
It’s like you said, you’re orders of magnitude closer to the homeless than to the rich. You are not the enemy, and even if you were, you’re still a leftist and any help is welcomed.
That all being said, I don’t think it’s right to say that this is the reason the left will always lose. First because the left is not an unified mass that thinks the same. There’s a lot of different leftist ideologies and they all clash in some way of another, be it for a disagreement in how to organize or in how to achieve communism. And second, because this type of thing tends to be something you would see more on the imperial core where actual leftist thinking have been thwarted and made into a boogeyman, I don’t know where you’re from, but I honestly suggest you try looking for Marxist-Leninist groups and organizations.

This comment ended up being very big and I’m not good at formatting, it would be better if I passed it through an LLM to format it nicely, but this already took a lot of effort and I would need to edit that output too, so I’ll leave it as it is.
Lil disclaimer: The names of things might be a bit different since I use my system in Portuguese and I’m translating it myself for this comment. And there’s still things I didn’t do like trying to add transparency to GTK4 apps and things I didn’t include cause I haven’t finished yet, like modifying the Midnight Catppuccin theme for Discord and the Catppuccin theme for Zen Browser, the general theme also wasn’t extensively tested, so there might be a few issues here and there. Lastly, if there’s any settings I didn’t talk about, leave it as default.
~/.local/share/color-schemes. I modified it myself to add transparency and since I didn’t fork it and upload to GitHub, I can’t really distribute it without the license, so here’s the changes I did, they are minimal, so it should be fairly quick to copy (the 4th number is the alpha channel, you can change it to alter the transparency of elements if you wish):Color=36, 39, 58, 255BackgroundNormal=54, 58, 79, 155BackgroundNormal=30, 32, 48, 169ForegroundActive=245, 169, 127, 150ForegroundInactive=165, 173, 203, 153BackgroundNormal=36, 39, 58, 235DecorationFocus=145, 215, 227, 200DecorationHover=54, 58, 79, 200BackgroundNormal=30, 32, 48, 125DecorationFocus=145, 215, 227, 125DecorationHover=54, 58, 79, 125activeBackground=36, 39, 58, 169inactiveBackground=24, 25, 38, 169zen.widget.linux.transparencyinabout:config
