There’s a chance this isn’t being done by someone who only wants Wikipedia’s data. As the amount of websites you scrape increases, your desire to use the easy tools loses out to creating the most general tool that can look at most webpages.

8·1 年前Ohhhhh that makes much more sense. I was going to complain about the volume of those things too, but I figured I had already complained about enough. Turns out my complaint was crazy.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump Boosts Message Telling Americans to ‘Shut Up’ About Egg Prices
41·1 年前You underestimate the power of laziness. That’s a lot of steps to approximate an egg.
It’s far easier to bake less and eat fewer eggs. Trust a lazy person. Either that or I’ll wait until eggplants can grow real eggs.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump’s policies are hurting Americans — but he’s winning the PR battle
6·1 年前I’m getting paywalled by your link, but on the aggregate, RCP seems to show his approval rating is still fairly high.
They currently have him at 48.8% approval. 46.1% disapproval.

I think you’re thinking of VIKI from I, Robot.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence was the movie where Haley Joel Osment was a robot kid.
So is the argument now we should act like China?
Unironically, I think most people who are going to Red Note might think so.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Has Fast Food Gotten Worse, or Am I Just Getting Old?
361·2 年前The answer is probably “yes”
- Food is probably worse.
- Your taste buds might have changed.
- Your gut bacteria might be different.
I have a couple reasons for believing each.
- Nutrient concentration in food has decreased over time (Veritasium talked about a fascinating explanation for this) and the desire to find low cost alternatives like HFCS over cane sugar changes the taste of food.
- “Children prefer higher levels of sweet and are more sensitive to bitter tastes until adolescence.”
- Your gut microbiome literally changes over time.
None of this makes sense anymore. How could people possibly be shocked this time? It happened before under less favorable circumstances.
He probably didn’t. He was polling very well. Very well. Better than his last two elections for a long time. People pretended he couldn’t win and I admittedly didn’t think they’d do that since that’s exactly what happened in 2016.
Simply assuming the election was stolen will be a mistake because that mindset will help Republicans win their next election. The voters wanted an irreparably changed supreme court and Trump functionally immune from prosecution and that’s what the voters got.
They’re not done counting. There’s a decent chance he has more votes this time.

27·2 年前Based on the article, that’s very clearly what they want.
EDIT: anyone who’s downvoting me should try explaining why the Democratic mayor of a Muslim majority town that hates pride flags is endorsing Trump. Some people clearly don’t mind if Trump wins.

34·2 年前Your analogy requires a powerful faction of people in Poland directly shooting rockets at Russian-occupied Ukraine. Still a significant event, but this descent continually shows the problem with analogies.

People act like it’s the worst thing to look at comment history but it’s necessary to check if someone is a real person or to check if their extreme views are really sarcasm.
