Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you are boycotting "America", does that include "American culture"?English
41·1 month agoThey are still on sale and very cheap in price, but the RAM for them has already gone up in price. Yes it was very good deal for it’s money, I have one. Usually I prefer something Coreboot capable, but thats just was very cheap.

352·1 month agoI’m from Russia, so I don’t need to boycott American corporations myself, American corporations boycott me themselves. :D
It’s a joke. But in reality, I just try to minimize my purchases from multi-billion dollar corporations whenever possible. I prefer buying indie, open-source or custom. Nothing about culture. As others have already said, nowadays American culture is mostly common culture. Sometimes I think about buying a Chinese CPU or GPU. And in general, I have a pretty limited budget.
I just humbly want to know who would have thought that creating a universe with so many terrible things was a good idea?

1·1 year agoThen I’m sorry about your experience. Maybe it has something to do with the versions of programs/libraries specifically on Fedor’s distribution. If I have the opportunity, I could try to run this game, but I have Arch linux.

Yes, x86 legacy is really confusing. Especially if you are going to write your own kernel or bootloader.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•[Serious] What non-religious video(s) lights a fire under your ass to get shit done?English
2·1 year agoMaybe one of those videos is “So if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”(youtube). It’s not even a video, but the speech itself. This speech is quite inspirational. And it doesn’t even matter who said it. And even usually I don’t really like the military.

I am interested in the state of the Linux drivers for their graphics cards. Are they open or closed? Is it possible to update the kernel and continue using their driver, or do I have to wait for a new version from the manufacturer for a new kernel version every time(if it closed source)?
I usually used AMD GPU all the time because of the open source driver and the convenience associated with it. Maybe someone knows something about it.
