Text from my direct report at 7am Saturday morning: “Please call me as soon as possible!!!”
I call immediately. Him: “I can’t talk right now, when is a good time to call you back?” Me:
“Just call me when you can, omg.”
Him: Calls me three hours later to take 20 minutes explaining why he needs an afternoon off two months from now.
Me: “This could have been a text, Pablo.”
So you’re saying that… video killed the radio star…?
Two teachers at my high school got married and both of them changed their full names. They chose a last name to share- after a saint they both resonated with, and each chose new first and middle names. They felt it marked the new chapter in their lives, that as they became one, they were both new people. They were both the young, cute, cool teachers that everyone had crushes on so we all thought it was super creative and cool.
Cognitive behavioral therapy workbooks work almost as well without a therapist as with one. You just have to have the self discipline to actually do it.
That’s really neat, thanks for explaining!
OH, I get it. The pick up price is the purchase price. That’s pretty clever. Does that mean the trash collectors have to pick every bag up by hand and glance at the contents? How many categories of trash/bag are there?
Interesting! Does the curbside program bill you by weight as well? That sounds labor intensive, compared to here where you just rent the $small, $$medium or $$$large bin and pay quarterly regardless of use. And recycling and composting are free.
That is neat! But since it charges you to put things in, wouldn’t that encourage people to just throw their food in the trash? Or is that discouraged somehow?
The county I live in (Northern California) requires that household food waste go into the curbside compost bin, or home compost. They do random checks to make sure you haven’t put any food in the landfill bin and you can get a fine.
It gets turned into compost for landscaping, along with the yard waste, not food though.
While Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin has warned that climate change threatens “our very way of life,” GOP challenger Eric Hovde compared clean energy tax credits to “corporate welfare.”
I thought they were into that…?
Essential oils are still pretty bad for cats.
Essential Oil Toxicity in Cats
The reason why these oils are risky is that they contain compounds such as terpenes, ketones, and phenols. Your cat’s liver cannot metabolize these chemicals, as it doesn’t have the enzymes necessary for processing and excreting them. As a result, there is always a possibility of their accumulation in the liver building to toxic levels.

the sound system in the parking lot of Bozeman’s Brick Breeden Fieldhouse bleats out the same seven songs, including “Memory” from Cats. The roughly 8,000 supporters who began queuing at dawn will hear the song approximately 30 times before they enter the temple of Trump this evening.

It’s good that she’s been convicted, but why in fucks name is something like this possible at this point in history? We can drill holes in Mars but we use the honor system with state employees to keep elections valid?
Do better.
I didn’t realize so many states offer early voting, everyone but AL, MS and NH offer some early voting.

English cucumbers come with their own condom, but it usually has rough seams :(
Just FYI, while the concentration camps in the US were absolutely inexcusable, destroyed communities, forced people to sell their homes and businesses and took people away from the lives they had built and everything the knew and loved, they were not extermination camps.
Of the 120,000 people unjustly incarcerated, 1,862 people died in the camp hospitals in the four years the camps operated. The current US mortality rate is about 0.8% (about 800 deaths per 100,000 people per year). So for 120,000 people (using today’s standard, I can’t find the rate for the 1940s), we would expect about 960 deaths per year, or 3840 in all four years.
Again, not condoning the US concentration camps in any way. But they were not death camps.
