I wonder whether solutions like Twincat for industrial PC/PLCs will be affected by this. Interfacing directly with the kernel and replacing the scheduler are, AFAIK, fundamental to making Windows viable for real time use.

No kidding, when I went to renew my license there was an old guy there, accompanied by his son apparently, who couldn’t even understand when they told him to sit.
He got his license renewed no problem.

During the pandemic my partner stayed inside for about a month, I was the only person she interacted with. I kept going to work because I was an “essential” worker (not really), so I kinda envied her, but by the end of that month she was going a bit crazy.
This is online discourse in general with Americans. Nuance is impossible, it’s all “you’re either with us or against us”, for example when discussing China. Doesn’t even have to be something political, just any charged argument at a point in time.
Must be a coincidence that Lemmy was much more relaxed and welcoming when there were fewer Americans here in the beginning, you could even read news about European countries, now all we get is American politics spam.
