2·2 months agoDo you have the source on the Russian governments trying to stop piracy?

2·3 months agoI use Qbittorrent because is super fast. I first used Utorrent and it got riddled with ads. Then I got Transmission and it was slow.

Technology@lemmy.ml•How do piracy websites exist when games, movies and tv shows are so expensive and require quantillion bites to storage?
9·3 months agoYeah, but like why do these websites stick their neck out for us? Is it because their sense of sharing media is that strong?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•For those who have experience this: How do you deal with the feelings of anger and insecurity that come when someone who was being abusive towards you, is more clever in things that matter to you?
1·4 months agoI don’t know the context of why that was brought up around you, but that isn’t inherently a racist thing, just a fact.
I just sat down for the first time with them as a group on the lunch table, and this white girl just casually said that out of the blue. I barely knew any of these people, and there was the Mexican guy and Indian guy sitting, on the table, yet this one white women, just decided to make the comment about black people. It was honestly disrespectful and disgusting, how she decided that it was okay to other someone like that the first time they decide to join them on the table. To me it felt that to her the reasons that caused to this, namely slavery, segregation, apartheid, red lining, sundown towns and racial financial segregation, are just cute side notes, and that her comment was just a cutesy thing to point out, by the fact that she just laughed about it. Back when it happened I didn’t know how to respond to that, since who the hell starts a conversation with that? I was not used to that level of crassness since I wouldn’t do that to anyone. For instance, I barely had any Chinese people were I grew up, but I am not about to other a Chinese person while laughing about it as my first convo with them. That was just pure malice. It was a very disgusting experience
Finally for some professional advice, learn from those that may be smarter than you instead of being upset that they are.
These are not the kind of people who help those that they deem outsiders. They give wrong advice on purpose. Or just act irritated if you ask them anything because they don’t want to have to deal with you nor share the top with anybody. Besides, these are not the kind of people that I would want to learn from anyway. And even if I wanted to, they are pretty good at gatekeeping knowledge and opportunities.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you guys know people who are awful human beings, but end up being super attractive, smart and loved by everyone they seem, but you can see through their bullshit and don't like them?

34·5 months agoAs a short black man, I have experienced all levels imaginable of disrespect and trauma, so I don’t think that I want to have to tell to my kid. “Yeah, I hated my life, but I am bringing you here to deal with all these crackers so maybe your generation can keep making things better.”
Also, yeah, I don’t have the money for them.

But how did that make you feel? Did the feeling of feeling unwelcome lingered long after leaving that job or the environment you were in?
