I’m conflicted on this. I used to think kids at 16 would be a good counterpart to old people, being more revolutionary in nature and so on. Maybe they don’t have a good sense of how things work in life yet but it would help balance out the people who are so stuck in the old ways that it ends up being fair.

But the reality I see is that they are very easily manipulated by unregulated media like TikTok and would vote for the same extreme right wing party as old people. Surveys here in Germany are a bit disturbing…

How about a voting license that needs to be renewed every 30 years? You have to pass a test that checks if you are capable of thinking objectively or something like that.

This is one of the things I like about Germany. We always vote on Sundays, which is practically a holiday for us, unlike in the US where stores are still open.

But there was a time where I could not even answer unknown numbers because I was in some kind of spam database and got 5-10 calls a day. It went on for weeks and they changed the number every time. Simply hitting decline didn’t stop it. I ended up setting my phone to block all calls not in my contact list (while still looking into my caller list occasionally) and a few weeks later it stopped. Now I became more trustful again.

I don’t get calls often anyways.

The whole experience of starting up my new (used) N64 for the first time on my blurry old CRT TV and see that huge 3D Mario face pop up that I could squeeze and pull. This was a truly magical console for me.

All spread out over the last ten years since I had a breakdown when I turned 30.

One of my uncles is always extremely into collecting something but the topic is changing every few years. First it’s board games, then geocaching, then geocoins (a subset of geocaching), then it’s lego. Now it’s a soccer club but just the merch, he never talks about the players or games. He lives in a small apartment so he puts stuff in self storage or even in the basements of other family members… I guess it’s compensation for not achieving much in life but it makes that situation even worse.
