  • I have left-hand threaded fittings on a few things and always say to myself aloud “This is reverse-threaded” before I attempt to turn them then still fuck up first turn. It doesn’t stop me from fucking it up the first time - it just helps me remember why.

When I train new people on this equipment I tell them to say it aloud, show them, still fuck up the first turn, then they laugh.

Then I have them do it in front of me including saying it aloud - and they fuck up the first turn…

When you’ve been doing something unconsciously for decades it’s really hard to break.

  • Someone fucked these up badly and there’s no way to tell from this how.

Are the numbers swapped between candidates but the sizes correct? Are the sizes swapped between candidates and the numbers correct?

As an aside, this is why serious data people don’t use pie charts. They’re terrible for lots of reasons, one being it’s very hard to compare areas instead of lengths, like a bar chart, as demonstrated by how many people didn’t notice these were so bad at first.

If you see data presented in a pie chart you should immediately be suspicious that it’s dishonest or incompetent.

None of that is to take away that voting for third parties this election is a terrible move - just saying this chart is useless.

  • Yes. Exactly! The reason people keep bitching about Harris and genocide is because they hope something might actually happen about it.

Biden was an absolutely terrible candidate (that I was going to vote for) and probably the only person who could lose against Trump. Because people constantly bitched about how bad he was they changed the candidate.

Harris doesn’t get to use Trump as a not-as-bad-as screen, and given that we don’t have the option of not voting for her, everyone should be applying every other available form of pressure to discourage her from enabling genocide or otherwise maintaining the status quo.
