  • Could alternatively use a data-only card if you want to allow streaming.

You can then limit the data used a couple ways - through your account, or with a local app or phone config (and some of these apps use a pin)

You could also use an app like No Root Firewall to limit network access (and Android can enforce an always-on VPN, preventing network access if the VPN isn’t running). It too can be locked with a pin.

Just some ideas if you want to allow streaming with specific apps (no root permits you to block network for all apps, with exceptions). I use it with a prefilter that blocks a bunch of social media and ad domains.

  • The space shuttle wasn’t as reusable as it was claimed to be.

Each airframe required massive refurbishment after every flight.

And the “crashes” you’re talking about were part of the project process, articles that were never going to be any more than test objects to begin with.

NASA crashed a lot of stuff, unintentionally. Three off of the top of my head, killed 15 astronauts, all which were preventable (not to mention the launch pad failures getting to Apollo).

NASA/NACA/Air Force crashed a lot of stuff along the way.

Ffs they knew Columbia had a tile problem, and said “it’ll be OK”. They knew it had been too cold for the booster seals on Discovery, and launched anyway.

  • You need flashlights with a better UI.

I mean, yea, I think that’s what OP is saying.

But it can be hard to find, with a high output/good battery.

Lights using a 18650 seem to be the rage these days, at crazy cheap prices, but they all use some UI with clicks, holds, etc. I feel like I’m doing a dance to use any of mine, definitely not what you want in a circumstance requiring a flashlight.

Even the simplest of lights require something most people would find unusual (and certainly never guess). Setting an Anduril light to “simple mode” is still more complex than I want in a light. It would be nice to have a simple click control, and be able to disable the strobe nonsense (never once in my life have I thought “ooh, a strobing light would be great right now!”). Nevermind the arguments for it are debatable (to confuse an attacker? Research has shown it affects you too).

  • There’s lots of resources online specifically about your state, that will be important, as every state is different.

In one state where I lived, you had the right to transfer moving violations to criminal court (the court for tickets was generally a Justice of the Peace, which is an appointee, so a legal education isn’t required to be one).

Criminal court has higher requirements for everyone involved, so it can be useful for defense purposes. It also costs more, both for the state and for you in court fees (fines will be the same). The advantage is the state is motivated to plea your charge down to clear the docket. I’ve seen this many times, for everything under the sun. But, every state is different.

I assume since you have court it’s because this is your first ticket, and you’re young - not sure why they do that, but it’s not uncommon. I guess they want to put the fear of the legal system in you. Had the opposite effect for me, saw it was just a process, that goes on all day, every day. Later tickets you just pay.

  • Took me several reads of the headline to start with.

Then connecting it to the article contents, at least this is “accurate clickbait” (if there is such a thing). It actually describes what’s going on, we just interpret it differently initially because of current circumstance (which I suppose you could say is the fldefinition of clickbait).

Still clickbait, but at least it’s not an outright lie like so many, just worded to make us want to click!

I’m a bit chagrined to have been taken in by the extreme interpretation of the headline, when the milder interpretation (in a different climate) would be inoffensive.

Ffs, how far have we come when I’m showing appreciation for a clickbait headline’s milder interpretation is accurate enough to not be a lie, but just attention-grabbing?
