Read on the Mint forums a thread a while back, like from 2012 I think… someone had the same scanner as me and wrote to Hamrick about it, see if it’s supported. Unfortunatelly, no, it’s not… though this was a while back and maybe it’s supported now, who knows, will have to try I guess to know for sure.

In any case, VueScan has some generic drivers in it, but it’s far from that it supports every device out there. In general, it needs drivers for it to work, no different than any other scanning application.

I don’t usually get my hopes up, but yes, it is a wonderfull feelling when it happens.

More active surface in touch with the soil, better conductivity. The salt increases conductivity. Once it starts transferring some of it to the sourrounding soil, the conductivity will be even better.

You can literally buy a grounding rod on Amazon for like $20 with a cord to connect to whatever you need. Just buy one of those and run the cable out the window. It has a handle, it pulls out of the ground when you’re done, and you can clean it off and put it away. No permanent installation required.

I know what you mean… I’ve made shitty choices most of my life… but, things are what they are, have a family now as well and you can’t just give up on that.

Tell him what I proposed in the comment above. It’s not expensive at all and works great (have done it in a few houses).

This is what was told to me by an old-timer electrician.

You dig a hole, 2m x 2m x 1.5m (or as deep as you can dig with a shovel). You take the load cylinder from an old washing machine. Weld a rod to that thing (on the side of the cylinder, not the middle). Make the welds good cuz that thing will go under ground and the elements will eat through it in a matter of years if it’s not welded correctly. Put the cylinder with the rod in the ground. Make a mixture of about 3 to 5kg of salt with soil (depending on the size of the cylinder and the type of soil) and fill the cylinder up with that. Put the rest of the dirt in the hole. Voila, a grounding solution that will last at least 50 years (or at least that’s what he told me).

Some really good advice here and people really tried, wow, just really surprised that not all people on Lemmy are tech geeks… cuz, I have to say that I do have a hard time interpreting situations and emotions and knowing that I can write about my problems and have a bunch of people really get into the issue and give really good advice, that really really means a lot 😊.

15 years, wow… yeah, you might still be in love with him/her… or something they had, but you just don’t get that in your current relationship.

This was kind of an eye opener for me as well. I’ve had a hard time of letting go of some of my exes, and I always wondered why. What you said coupled with the fact that I sometimes have a habbit of idealizing a relationship and fanatsizing about what it would look like 3, 5, 10 years from now, is at the root of the problem, but I never framed it like that.

Plus, if you’re talking about a chat with multiple people, yes, it might stay under the radar. But 1 on 1, probably not.

Short replies and sentences is the way to go with LLMs. They get too polite if you leave them to their devices. It’s in their “nature”, they’re designed to please.

It is a nice idea… but it involves some effort on this side to get that done, and I don’t think anyone would be interested. People on dbzer0, maybe, everyone else, I don’t think so.
