Console Wars: A Card Game’s Innovative Approach

Dubbed as ‘Console Wars The Card Game’, this intriguing project aims to blend the spirit of friendly competition and the nostalgia of console wars into a fun-filled card game.

What’s in Store?

  • Objective: Players assume roles of various fictional console manufacturers, competing for dominance by collecting a variety of video game franchises, building fanbases, navigating the volatile industry landscape, and strategizing to outdo rivals. The ultimate winner is decided based on assembling four full-genre sets of games from horror, action-adventure, first-person shooters, and role-playing genres.

The Game Mechanics

  • A deck of 155 cards forms the core gameplay experience, with additional DLC content available for more strategic depth.
  • Unique card designs represent cleverly-named franchises like Mood, Unsurveyed, Hola, and Cattlefield, adding a distinct flavor to each player’s quest.

The Kickstarters Journey

  • With an initial funding goal of £20,000, the campaign has already raised over £18,000 as of writing. This demonstrates significant interest and support for Console Wars The Card Game.

What’s Next?

  • Fans can now visit the Kickstarter page to back the project and secure their copy, scheduled for a March 2025 shipment date.

People still give a shit? I thought it ended when they all became x86 boxes and everyone just started purchasing solely on what exclusives they prefer because that’s basically one of the only two reasons not to play on PC.

No, people don’t care anymore, that’s what makes it a fun concept for a fantasy game. You get to pretend like it’s relevant for entertainment.

Like how people play Monopoly so they can live out the fantasy of buying property and owning a house.

Interesting concept for a card game! I like the parodies of different games, but the cards themselves look a bit dull. Just a logo on a white background for the most part.
