Dell was my first thought as well

I don’t disagree, but it’s not the issue being discussed? 🤷♂️

That’s a fair point, it’s also not the issue at hand 🤷♂️

I’d rather not disclose my age on this account, but, let’s just say we’re not newly married.
I will admit my statement about location sharing only being a problem if you’ve already got problems was a bit too binary. The issue is more nuanced.
I see you’re focusing on the cheating aspect, which to your credit is what the OP is all about. But from our perspective, that’s not even an issue or a use case for the technology. We have full trust in each other. The technology is simply useful for other reasons.
Did she make it to work in the snowstorm or rainstorm?
Huh she’s usually home by now, is she unconscious in a ditch or just stopped at the store?
Dinner is almost ready, I just need to put this in the oven so it’s ready to come out the second she walks in the door, let me make sure she’s actually on her way home. Oh, she must have gotten held up at work, I’ll wait a few more minutes.
Stuff like that. Yeah there’s other ways of solving those problems, and that’s fine too, we just prefer the convenience.
We don’t share locations because we don’t trust each other, we share because it’s convenient. I guess you could say we trust each other not to go crazy with it 🤷♂️
We have married friends who won’t share with each other, and that’s fine too.
I’ll retract my earlier statement. Location sharing is a sensitive subject, with lots of facets. Sharing or not is a personal choice. And while there can be practical benefits, I think most people would agree that using it for cheating prevention is… Unhealthy.

Never went to work in a snowstorm? Or heavy rain?
I’m not OP, but my wife and I share locations, it’s endlessly convenient for coordinating. Never abused.

Been sharing with select friends and family for years now, zero issues. And if we did have an issue? I’m turning it off for you 🤷♂️ pretty simple. Frequently extremely convenient.
A friend of a friend of mine is sharing with a friend of theirs. And it’s a crap show like you said, coming over, inviting themselves to events, why were you there, etc. Everything you said. And it’s still a problem, to the point where they leave their phone at home if they are doing anything sensitive, because they are afraid of hurting the person’s feelings by turning it off 🙄
I think the key is having a backbone, and also not having crap friends 🤷♂️

Same. For this to be a problem, you must first have other problems.
My wife has one, I don’t like to use it, it’s too aggressive for me.
I can reach my back with my arms. To get the spot right between my shoulders I have to reach up and come down from the top with one arm, while using my other hand to grab my elbow and pull it to push my hand low enough to get it more effectively.

You articulated what I was thinking, better than I could have. This is it for me.
I’d add that there’s probably a lot of habit involved, plus the fact that everyone else does it.
So not only am I not used to saying “today is the 4th of May”, everyone around me isn’t used to hearing it either and might think I’m being weird.

They did not nest properly on boost. But I guess that’s not surprising, we only just recently got them at all

Thanks for this, but I apologize, I’m still confused.
You’ve described fixed gear, and geared, I think we now agree as to what these are.
But what is a single speed bike? I’ve never heard of it. Is it a geared bike, with only one gear, but still has a tensioner? So it can’t have hub brakes? Why would such a thing exist?

Good to know lol, thanks

Oh I get it, I guess I never heard it pronounced that way. British maybe?

As an American, this disagrees with my worldview. But I also don’t know enough about the British version to say your wrong 🤷♂️
I never watched the British one, and I don’t care for the American one, too cringey. Makes me sympathetic cringe.

I’m so confused. Drawbacks of a geared bike? As opposed to what? Flintstoning it?
I must just not be understanding what you mean.
I’ve ridden bikes with no derailer or gears, when you backpedal, you brake.
And I’ve ridden mountain bikes with front and rear gear changing.
I know there are super exotic driveshaft bikes, and electric etc, but besides that, what could you be talking about?

Could you elaborate? I’m dumb.
According to my pet peeve, this looks fine? I just scrolled past a meme that said something like “download a ISO” and I was like gah, no, it’s AN ISO.

I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the 1.0 of freecad.
I don’t use CAD professionally, and even my hobby usage is less than it was, and it was only a dozen or two small projects.
I had never used freecad, always fusion 360. I’ve been away for awhile, and also switched to Linux in the meantime. I needed to make a simple object, and tried freecad 1.0, and I literally could not intuit how to begin. Not a single shape, I was so lost, it was very frustrating.
I tried onshape and got a bit further, but still don’t like the corporate nature of it.
I’m not trying to slam freecad, I really want it to work, and when I have more time to sit down and study it, I want to try again. But in the meantime I went back to fusion 360 in a VM, which was very sluggish, but at least I knew where everything was.

IDK
Money

Yikes, kids are dumb lol.
I never grew up around waves, so when my brother and I visited family on the coast and we were playing in the waves, other people wouldn’t join us. We were going further and further out. Finally we convinced the guy to join us, and no lie, he said he jokingly said “ok I guess I’ll die too”. We didn’t know what he meant. All three of us got stuck in a mild rip current. I almost drowned trying to swim directly into it. Nobody told me any different. My brother and the other guy were stronger swimmers, they were ok. It all happened very fast. We gave that guy an earful afterwards, he was like “I thought you knew” 🤦♂️
I think high end smasnugs do that. But yeah same, I have a Chromecast and I just sling stuff to the TV. Its tuner hasn’t been used in a decade.
Speaking of decade… I should probably upgrade that thing. But it’s big enough, dark enough (LDC, but at least not a crappy LCD), and high enough resolution for it’s size and distance from my couch (1080, 50 inches, 10 or 15 feet) that I just can’t justify replacing it. I wish it would die already lol.
Maybe if I move and get a big enough bedroom, I’ll put it in there, and upgrade to something with HDR. I really wanna get in on some good HDR. Seems like it’s getting really good and really affordable if you buy the right thing.
