  • I recommend you take a look at Breeze. It is a dating app in the Netherlands (and expanding).

When you match, you get a date planner (after paying for the date). No chatting allowed. A real date or nothing. That is the premise. You pay per date, and you get your money back if the date is cancelled or they don’t show up. So the app earns money from sending people on real dates. People that don’t show up or cancel dates are penalized by the algorithn and they loose badges on their profile. This is good for Breeze, who wants people to go on dates, and good for the users, who want to go on dates.

Chatting is allowed a couple of hours before the date, but this is not intended for conversations, only for practical purposes.

As a result, profiles also matter much more. For both sides. You litterally need to sell yourself, because if someone swippes on you, they may need to pay 10 euro for the date if you also swipe on them.

You also get only a handful of profiles each day. Which makes sense, because you can limit the number of concurrent matches/dates, hence the app is better off distributing the matches, rather than piling them onto the 10% hotest accounts.

This also means you can’t spend more than 15 to 30 minutes a day going over 5 tot 10 profiles.

Meanwhile, the app can provide free accounts, where people only need to pay for actual dates, hence the entry barier is lower than Tinder, where men won’t get seen without paying. Meaning it is easy to get a userbase going.

I suspect the hard part is the logistics of setting up the dates. A spot in a bar or coffee place needs to be organized for each date. If that is no option, the users are asked to choose a meeting spot (talking to eachother via an intermediate person.

  • There used to be a decent argument for the taboo on sex. Namely that it produces children. And children should not be born to a woman without someone to support her financially. Hence the sudden weddings when a girl got pregnant. This protected the woman, who would otherwise had to raise the children without a father.

Religion was used as a means to enforce this protection.

But in the modern world, this idea just doesn’t work anymore. Sex doesn’t need to produce children, children can be raised by one parent, and woman can take care of themselves without help of men. So all layers of the problem have been removed.

My point: religion used to have a point, but failed to get with the times.

OP literally asks like 10 relevant questions for this place, and names their reasons for not naming specific instances. And all you focus on, is the question: who did it?

To me that is proof that OP did the right thing here.

Lets first figure out how to approach this without knowing the pupotrator.

  • Do you not want to be notified about free healthcare options available to you? Because if you ignore the ragebait headline and filter the article for its rage potential, the following quote explains it pretty nicely:

"The letter is being sent to 29-year-olds because women are able to have their eggs frozen at that age without a medical certificate. Women will also be reminded that social security in France covers the cost of freezing eggs for women between 29 and 37. "

So woman are being told how to keep the option for kids open for longer. That is quite the opposite of pressuring them into anything if you ask me.

  • I doubt they do mich different than you do with their OS.

People are more motivated by feelings than actual logic. The person you are responding to even states that Ubuntu “feels good to use”. That is some car advertisement level of feeling based reasoning.

Another thing is that people really hate it when things change. Especially a UI change. Every change in the Windows UI has been met with disgust. And if there is one thing different between linux distros, it’s where they place all the buttons, menus, etc. So people prefer to stay with the distro they know.

  • The puzzling part is fun, because you are constantly learning new ways to use your body. See how to balance, how to move around, etc. I have found that dancing gives a similar learning challenge. Especially the more free-form dances like salsa and bachata. It’s fun learning new moves every week during the lesson, and then try to see if you can put them to practise during a party.

And don’t worry about beeing to stiff. If you can balance around boulders, you can get your body to move around for dancing too. Just takes some practise. I currently do both, and feel like I lack dexterity more for the climbing than for the dancing.

And unlike most of the hand-friendly options mentioned already, you do have to use your hands and arms a lot. Just not in a way that puts any stress on them.

    1. It reduces the barrier of entry for new users to get an account going that is not flooded by political extremist views in it’s feed.
    2. It causes anonymous users to not see they shitshow. And since most users start out by browsing anonymously while deciding whether they want an account or not, that is a big deal.
    3. It gives the impression that this community is at least somewhat ok with the views that these extremists hold.

It should be opt-in to view posts and comments from these sources.

  • Point 1 has to be chosen when the cat is young. Forcing an outside cat to suddenly only be inside often doesn’t work.

I adopted a 7-year-old cat from the shelter, and after a week of having to be inside all the time, he got more and more frustrated. After a week and a half, he escaped during the night. In the morning, while I was panicking, he came strolling in as if nothing was wrong.

Since he apparently comes back, I allowed him outside from then on. Since that moment, his behaviour inside has improved a lot. No more random play attacks on my ankles and hands, and generally much calmer.

He has also come back home with mice several times. He always eats them. So I think he is very used to living outside. Maybe been a stray, or a farm cat.

Forcing him to be inside would feel cruel.
